Had Dave order the parts for the S to R tail swap.
That guy is the bestest!

Only person that I know has done it is Trenchtractor. You have any words of advice, or tidbits of knowledge you would like to instill before I embark on the mission?

I am going to "try" and keep a photo journal and let everyone know how it works out.

As you all well know, if I have any problems, you all will hear it first.

Rich

Kevin (Think Drummer) has done it. He said it was a simple install.
Only problem was the tail light wires were too short.

I think I should be able to handle a few wires. Hafta break out the ol' soldering tools and do 'er up right.

Rich

No, thank you, Dave!

Don't we need a new wiring harness for R to do that? Where are we going to put the ECM, bank sensor, fuse box?

DC all of that can be put under the seating both front and rear from what the others have done.

That was my understanding, too. I should have plenty of room to keep everything under the seat.

Like I stated before, if I have problems, you all will hear about it.

Well, all mine is under the seat. I wasn't affraid, though and was happy to relocate things even if the loom wasn't...

Only had to extend 3 wires. Everything else is crammed in. I still haven't gotten around to mounting everything properly, it's all jammed in foam like the servo motor is... Every few weeks i strip her back and take another look, I still can't come up with a solution to the mounting I am completely satisfied with.

But the conversion isn't hard. Make a mount for the brake res to go on the right hand side. Cut out eh factory 'R' res bracket and free up some room for the cabling. Cut the undertray to allow the cables through. Try an dmount the ECM to teh left of the battery. Oh, and remove all the looming tape so when you are reshaping the loom you aren't stressing anything out. Reloom with self vulcanising tape. It's exy, but great, waterproof and won't leave a residue like elec tape.

Good luck, I did mine in an afternoon (After about 3 months of research).

I was waiting for you to chime in, Brad. Thanks for the input.

I was hoping it wasn't going to be as easy as you said. I know it sounds weird, but I am wanting the challenge. Something completely (almost) custom that only a few of us in the world have. I's gonna have lots of downtime with the snow on the way, so it's not going to be rushed. Something to keep me occupied in the down months.

I hope, if I have problems, you won't mind a post or two from me asking questions.

Rich

I just took for it ride, and dropped it off at my buddies house where we are doing the work on it. I also bought a set of crossroads bars, putting them on tomorrow too.

Lemme know how things go, Tim. I want as many details as you are willing to give.

I am hoping for the best but planning for the worst.

Little tipsy right now. Went to "An Acoustic night with Godsmack" in Kalamazoo, MI. It was excellent.

UPDATE: Started at 12:30 pm by 5:00pm had the old tail off and the new subframe on, the battery inplace and several things re-routed and relocated. All that is left is extending the wires for the tail light and turn signals. However. With Everything in place, minus the tail light and tun signals, The bike would NOT start. Does anybody know of say a safety feature like the lights not working that would prevent the bike from starting. It turned over, the headlight was on the fuel pump ON, but it would NOT startI have taken A LOT of pictures along the way. And we managed to fabricate a few things EVERYTHING is under the seat. The trunk is completely empty. I will take detail upclose shots of the fabricated items like the battery tiedown that holds the battery and the ECM in place, the tiedown method for the fuse box. Would have had it ALL done but kids came trick or treating, so I had to hand out candy.

Start simple - you may have dislocated a fuse or relay or even blown one somehow. Check them all before going into any more depth.

Gonen60 - I have to ask...if you wanted the R front AND rear...why in the hell did you get an S? ; )

I know, I should have bought an "R".
no doubt about it. I test rode both, and was having a hard time making up my mind. I bought the "S" and after bringing it home, about 48 hours later I was kicking myself.
No big deal, I love My bike, and after a few more mods, I will love it even more...I hope LOL

Gonen60...
Let me know when you are ready to make the rear end conversion.
I will take that cowl off your hands and help ease the financial burden a little.

I have really short legs, I WANTED the R, so I bought the LOW cause I felt comfortable on it. Coulda bought an R and lowered it, but at the time didnt really know what I was getting myself into. last bike i had was 125 dirt bike, never had street bike, and kept coming back to being comfortable, I can stand flat footed on my low, not on a standard height S or R. Go Figure 2005 they make the R in a Low. BANK SENSOR HUH?is that funny thing with 2 screws holding it in place. Maybe I have it upside down????
