I was wanting to know how to remove the belt guards on my '03 xb9s? And is it worth doing? What are the chances of a rock getting to the belt without them? Thanks. |

Do it at your own risk. The chances of you getting a belt that breaks 'prematurely' replaced under warranty are virtually non-existant if you do not have the guards in place. You'll need to remove the rear wheel. Get a service manual - it is worth its weight in gold if you are going to do your own work on the bike. And above all - DO NOT BEND OR TWIST THE BELT IN ANY WAY |

Broke belt with only 1000 miles on it after taking mine off, and now have 5000 in this belt without the guard. I was told a rock as small as 1/4 inch will break the belt if it gets inside the belt and pulley. You have to make your own decision, I just hated the look of the guard. |

BTW, not covered under warranty because the guard was off. |

Will the 04 belt guard fit on an 03 ??? I'm just wondering because of the sprocket sizes changed on the 04 to a larger size . |
