can anyone direct me to where I can get a good sparkplug wires and sparkplugs and can someone also tell me the part# for it thanks

some people may not like them but I have had good luck with the Pro Series (splitfire style) and .035 gap...the bike is really responsive.

This is on a mostly stock XB9R with stock plug wires (fiberglass wrapped for protection) and drilled 12 airbox and drilled exhuast.

If I want new wires, I will most likely get bosch or ngk wires, and put on the stock plug thats on the coil, with ngk plugs on the spark plugs. Sparks are already ngk.

Accel 300+ wires from the X1 fit the XB series and are a definite improvement over stock. In the UK they are around GBP20 (US$36?) but are probably cheaper in the US coz they are made there.
We have used them on all our Buells and had no problems. We use them with NGK DPR9IEX9 iridium spark plugs.

I just installed a new cables and at first it ran fine at idle then few hours later when I started the bike the lights are dimming now and it seems like it's dying and when I run the bike everything runs good and nothing is wrong with it. I think it's the connection to the coil I think it's not sitting properly. Is there any simple way to insert that front cable in and I kinda gave on after an hour of cursing.

Get a pair of spark plug wire pliers. The longer the better. They should push the coil end of the wire on just fine. You can use a long pair of pliers/needle nose but just be careful not to put too much pressure on the wire and cut it....Odie

lights are dimming now you said. this is not a spark plug wire problem.

How much did you take it apart?

Did you take the airbox base off to get better access? If so, I'd check the wire harnass that runs there.

If something goes wrong right after you changed something, look around the area you were working.

Like fullpower said, if lights are dimming, I wouldn't think of spark plug wires etc, unless it's shorting but then the bike wouldn't run.

I hate electrical problems .... had to deal with 2 shortages ...

yeah but when I ride the bike it's not doing anything but if it's on idle then the lights dims a little bit but if the engine is still cold and I start it it seems like it is going to die and the lights dims. This is why I am assuming that it had to do with cable when I installed the cables the front did not click in place and the rear I heard a click when I installed the cable in it. I am getting irritated and I want to vent my anger on this bike maybe pick a sledge hammer and just have a ball with this damn bike. It seems like when I fix one problem the another one will surface don't get me wrong I like the bike it's just that maintenance wise this bike is a bish to work on.

take it easy man. Vent your anger on the bike and you'll regret it in the morning. Try and learn from it.

I think my light flickers a bit when its cold and idles.

What is your idle set to?

Could it be the battery is nearly empty? So when you run the bike the engine spits out enough energy to run the lights and all, but when it idles, it's just on the edge so you would see the lights flicker?

Dunno, just thinking...

dude, relax, have a beverage, read through the appropriate section of the service manual. begin work when you are ready to enjoy the process. if maintenance is not enjoyable and/or rewarding for you personally, then try to hire a competent 3rd party to do your service. expect to pay them. that is what makes the economy work. best of luck and try to enjoy the journey. dean

don't get me wrong I like to work on a bike but not that bish and I do like to learn and prefer to do the work on my bike but c'mon just for a simple cable wires to put on the coil. You don't see that ish happening to a jap or euro bikes I think they built there bikes with more common sense. I am sorry to bish but this is the most difficult bike I ever worked on.

jab: in all seriousness, i thought it was rather inconvenient access to the sparkplugs myself, but then on further reflection, i had to note that after 10,000 miles i went to the trouble of replacing spark plugs that came out so clean as to be indistinguishable from the new in box replacement spark plugs. so the point is these bikes DONT NEED FREQUENT SPARK PLUG SERVICE. this is really not that big a deal, you need to clean the air filter once a year anyway, so attend to your spark plugs at that maintenance break, when you are already 2/3 of the way in there anyway. this is a modern fuel injected four stroke engine; you just dont have to diddle your spark plugs that often to really snivel about their placement. if you aint diggin the machine, perhaps you would be happier with another.

Spark Plugs: NGK Iridium Spark Plug #KR8AI ($6.50 ea. at Advance Auto Parts).

Look in the Service Manual and you will find drawings and instructions on how to properly remove and install everything on the bike. If you don't have a Service Manual yet, get one. It is worth the money.

I do have the manual and I would've gotten the cables in the coil with ease if the screw for the coil wasn't stuck. Thank you guys sorry for being such a pain but I guess I have no choice but to curse more until I get that thing together
