I just discovered the third headlight today when putting my headlights back on after track day. It took me a while to figure out what it was, and I'm pretty surprised that it's there. At least now I understand what the heck this post is about.

I've got a blue Sylvainia in mine.
Not any different while riding, but a nice pale blue glow if I use the parking lights.

Its what we call a sidelight/parklight here in the uk.
The good news is you get 2 in the firebolt in the front of each lense. Bad news is you have to drop the fairing slightly to get at them.
Dont use plastic bulbs,(had rainbow leds in mine till it melted them)

So this doesn't work at all if the regular lights are on? It only works with the parking lights? Why does Europe requir it if its only a parking light? I saw the hole in my 9S just wondering why i'd be there. By the way misato, cool looking bike all around.

It's on when the bikes on.
It's just with mine the head lamps are stronger and similar in color, so you don't notice it with the head lamps on.
Why does Europe requir it if its only a parking light?
Europe requires parking lights.

Tiki - be careful doing that. Motorcycle lights are governed by the same rules as cars. Only white for head lamps, only amber for front turn lamps, only red for brakes/rear turn lamps or amber rear turn lamps.

Unlikely that you'd get pulled over for it, but they COULD write you a ticket for it.

Sardawg2pd:
The Firebolt has the lead but no socket.
Follow one of your headlight bulb leads back to the big connector. (I think it has 4 wires in it)
I'm pretty sure you have a white, a yellow, a black and a red or orange. The red or orange comes into the connector but ends there. Thats your lead for the 3rd bulb.

After an exhaustive and no expenses ($1.97) spared investigation, I have found that Harley has the lights you need for the Buell parking light. I made sure of this by going to AutoZone and buying a 194 bulb, hence the outlay of $1.97.
They're called a wedge bulb by the HD boffins. Since I fancy green, I bought the green ones (P/N 75153-00) for another $2.30 outlay. They look egg-zackerly like the 194 bulb. However, nowhere on the Harley packaging do they say what type bulb this actually is, which is why I went and bought one clearly marked that way.
I have yet to install the green Harley one so stay tuned for further developments. I bet dollars to stickybuns that it works, though.

I bought a blue 194 today and it looks cool! Autozone had a 194 type bulb but it was actually 4 leds. Unfortunately it was amber so I'm going to order a white on to see what it looks like. Should be bright. It was $9.98 though....

My Firebolt has the two bulbs in there and they run constantly with the ignition on.

Could not find the blue one at my local pep boys, they just had white. Gotta do a little more shopping, the blue would be a nice touch on the 9sx.

It don't shine too blue though.
And I can't see it when the headlamps are on.
I'd like to find one that would show a little more blue, brighter. Does look cool though when the lamps are off.
Nedreck, what other colors does Harley have, do you know?

Pep boys had some halogen ones that were 7w instead of 5w, that could probably be made to work and be brighter, but I was worried about melting things, the same concern I have with trying to rig up something that would run both beams at once.

I was hoping the extra bulb would make the second lamp look "on", it doesn't really, but does look cool when that is all that is on.

When I order the white, 4 LED one from autozone I'll post the part number. We use LED products alot in my line of work and they are VERY bright. I think 4 LEDS shining in the middle of the 2 headlights would be very bright.....let ya know....Odie
