Where do XB PCV valves vent to,under the bike ?

In stock configuration they vent into the airbox, they sit in between the air filter and velocity stack.

I've seen people reroute them just about everywhere, like down past the oil cooler, or down the swingarm, or onto the muffler, and so on.

Nope, sounds like someone did a crap job rerouting it on your bike. All the splooge is supposed to mix in with the air intake and be burned off.

My 08 has the stock setup, my 06 has the reroute with the American Sport Bike kit that mounts a catch can by the oil cooler. I prefer the stock setup these days, as the reroute requires me to empty the can every couple days otherwise it starts to overflow and spill everywhere, and it gives off a nasty grimey smell regardless.

The stock setup is completely invisible to the rider, and I don't smell like splooge after every ride.

Froggy,I have an '02 S3T with a Forcewinder and the breathers running to a Jaz catch can.I've been having trouble with splooge getting all over the side of the bike.I'm considering going with XB rocker covers and PCV valves.I made my own,on an S2 by drilling the rocker tops and installing XB PCV valves,but didn't eliminate the butterfly valves and wonder if the trick is to go with the whole XB setup?

That's interesting, I'm not familiar enough with the differences in the motors to know if that would work, but the more I think about it, the more it sounds like it should work.

Buellish ,isn't it a possibility to have the umbrella's completely removed and leaf those holes open and run it like that with your custom rocker tops!?

I don't know if removing the butterflys would make any difference,I've never tried it.I do know that the two different
types of covers are quite different,there is a lot more open area in the XB covers,where the tuber style is sectioned off.

For a road use xb ,keep the stock xb breathers and the hose down and remove the other hoses and reservoirs.

For those that have been into their motors, has there been any issues with reed valve in right side case? I was curious as thats where this all starts. I dont notice any oil carryover unless been on road for most of day at 70 + mph. Normal slower speed, shorter time dont notice the carry over.

Got it and info. Thanks. What model buell was that installed on and can the timing chest relieve itself with most pressure out of the timing plug? I figure it takes at least a little pressure to bump the umbrellas open.

(13)Vent lines ie: gas tank,trans,and head breather hoses ran to tail section below license plate.Also vented timing plug hole(PVC valve and
oil/air seperator).

Inspected my reed valve at 22K, even under a magnifying glass could not see anything wrong. Replaced it only because I was there and not planning on being back there for a long time.

Mees,I picked a set of rocker covers from the guy on ebay pretty cheep,thanks again for the tip.
Does anybody know of an alternate PCV valve through the aftermarket?

Do you want a other style breather because of fitment on the s3t?

So i was reading this thread again and sagehawk was asking about the reed valves in the engine cases.
I have no insight on them (not that far into a XB lump yet)but maybe someone else can answer that question!?

Yes i did seen and read your other post!

So if you going to put the xb rocker covers on your S3t instead of the converted stock one's ,why not also use the xb pcv valves and let the catch can where it already is and find out how much splooge its spits with that setup.

Well maybe you have to customize the xb pcv valve from the rear cover a bit if it hits the fuel tank.

I've got no problem using the oem pcv valves,but there is often a less expensive alternative in the aftermarket.

I took your advise and won a set of XB covers from the source you recommended.

I may leave the catch can where it is but it makes such a mess there that I'm inclined to move it.
