I have been reading some rather surprising stuff about the XB engine. How many miles do they do before needing serious work. Dale had 3 engines in 37000. thats outrageous!!! What are everyone's experiences. Does reducing the service interval help? Does a specific oil make any difference? Morts |

16K with no problems. Plenty of people with that much or more, at least on 9s. Dale has a 12, IIRC, I have a 9. XB9RSki blew his up somewhere around 33K(?). |

25,500 or so on my XB9S. Stator out at 19000. Clutch cable broke at 25,500. Darth can fill you in on the rest.... |

I've been worried about the motor on my 12 too. If the thing blows up on me, Ill be screwed...and I'm not going to pay for a new motor. Dunno if I should trade in at 20-30K or buy the extended warranty. Jack |

from what I've read here ,the reliability of the xb's is at least on par with japanese engines. Remember these bikes are usually ridden hard. I think with proper maintenance they ought to last years before a rebuild is necessary. |

Jack, if you have a 12 then you should have a 2 year warranty which means your in the same boat as me. Course I totally expect to surpass 30K by this time next year. Anyways I am putting together a rebuild fund in which I will buy the parts to go out to 1425cc by the time the warrenty dies. |

I've got a seperate "Buell Account" Any side jobs or extra money goes there. So any time I need something Buellish, I'm there. I'm with you Wycked, I'm saving for a 1200 kit. |

I think if you use a quality syn like Mobil One and change it every 2500 miles, there is no practical limit to how long this engine will last. Some guys have 37K and still going strong! |

Not sure if it's appropriate for me to chime in her or not.... I personally know of two high mileage (20k+) not previously mentioned here that have self destructed one that had never had the cases apart(transmission ate itself) and mine which seized a crank bearing after throwing 101hp at the rear (heavily modified) not necessarily any reflection on buell......but....maybe relevant????? |

I promise the motor is completely stock now, I do however have a few tricks up my sleeve I haven't found a blue one yet that could keep up with me......Dave Stueve being the exception but that was closed course craziness. "not really racing"...(dripping sarcasm, laughing my off!!!) seriously, no competeition. the "w " in white is for wins.... end of discussion.................... |

"Your profile picture is,........well,..........confusing me !!" I think I just figured it out. Over on the barn is a picture of a Pegasus. He's been breeding chickens in that same barn breeding only the biggest hens to the biggest roosters working to eventually get one big enough to breed to a horse. When he gets to that point, as his picture clearly shows he is almost there, he will then cross-breed the chicken to a horse and work on his very own Pegasus.

Nothing that complicated, although I may give that a try. The badge on the barn is the unofficial 3%ers patch. The writing on the barn says Rural Assault Team. And that's me with my big (rooster) showing everyone I've got nothing to compensate for. Funny I didn't know kock was a "bad" word |
