well, my speedo sensor died for the 4 kajillionth time today (I've been counting)...

has anyone ever salvaged a speedo sensor?
cleaned it, adjusted it, or something else?

or am I stuck going back to my dealer?

thanks in advance...I'm off to find the thing in my service manual

Luke

You can clean them. They are magnetic, and too much metal accumulating will make them stop working... but 9 out of 10 times, they are internally blown.

Somebody found a part that you can use, but it involved a lot of drilling and fabrication, and the parts are hard to get (and need to be bought in bulk).

The newest part addresses the problem. The old parts can be protected with a 5 volt regulator and an inductor (under $15 worth of parts), if it has not blown yet. We have tons of info about this in the knowledge vault.
