At last! Buell XB swing arm sliders designed and engineered by a fellow BadWeBer for BadWeBers. Please see my section on the sponsor page under “Dark Horse Moto” or my new, under construction web page at http://home.earthlink.net/~darkhorsemoto/

The sliders were designed out of necessity: I low-sided my XB on the way to work one Friday morning. Upon inspection of the damage, the swing arm was the only non-replaceable item that was damaged. I knew there had to be an easy solution and I knew it had to be inexpensive.

I’m new to sales and marketing; I’m an engineer. Please take a look and let me know what you guys and gals think.

Thanks,
Keith (S k u l l y)

Powder coated to match the XB12 swingarm or powder coated black would be nice...

nice!

Keith, unfortunately, my swingarm looks identical to yours, also from a low-speed lowside

do you have any pics of the setup/hardware off the bike? just to see what's involved...

Lpowel,

You can fill and paint it and nobody will be the wiser. As long as the frame or swingarm don't get tweaked it's just cosmetic.

Very nice. I am committed to not low-siding the bike of course, but that would be a 50 well spent if I should have an "incident", as I call them to my wife.

Darthane - Yes, I have a prototype set that has been powder coated black.

Powder Coated Slider

Email me by going to the sponsor page or by going to my profile page and I'll make you a deal!

Lpowel02 - I will try to get you a picture in the next day or so. Installation is super simple.

Mr_cuell - I too thought my days with "incidents" were over...

Thanks guys, I really appreciate your feedback!

Keith

The american sportsbike website sells those ... has for a couple months. Goes through the rear axle. Easy to remove if needed and not too expensive.

Aztec,
Not the same slider. Nice, just not the same part.

Plastic coating over a nicely machined piece of 6061-T6 aluminum? Black or gold anodized would be too cool.

I agree, anodize will look better than powder coat on these nice machined parts. I have a powder coater at my disposal; I'll have to find an anodizer.

Yes, I have plans to design and fabricate fork sliders as well and longer swing arm sliders for racers or those who simply want the piece of mind.

The "Stealth" model pictured above is designed to fully protect the swing arm in a low side crash without looking out of place on the bike.

Are there plans for some slightly bigger "buttons" that could support front and rear stands? They do look sweet but a touch narrow for stands.
Great job anyways!

longer swing arm sliders for racers...

Put that groove in the longer version for those of us that prefer spools for the swingarm lift ; )

Keith, I like the looks, especially the black ones. When you come out with a thicker or longer swingarm slider let us know. I'll start saving the money. I want the peace of mind. : )

Too late... American sportbike must have stole it right outta your brain a few months ago. Mounting looks the same .. your sliders (end caps) just look a bit different (better).

Well, to set the record straight, I added the ones on our site about 3 weeks ago. But they aren't mine, they're Sato. Though I thought of doing exactly the same thing months back, just didn't have time to bring them out. Keith, your's look beyootiful.

I'll have some even cooler ones soon care of OrtegaKidd. Stay tuned.

Thanks Al. Dang it, somehow we need to join forces so we are not competing against each other!

Aztec12r - As I mentioned above, I got the idea as result of my crash. I did not realize anyone else had some for sale. If I had, I probably would have bought theirs! It is a lot more work than I thought to bring something to market..

Keith,
Gimme a call, 760-727-2333. I'd be happy to help you market them. They look nice, first class appearance. Customers should be able to make choices, not only get offered one variety, so I'd be happy to carry them (if there's some margin in it for me, of course)

I hear ya on the bringing a product to market thing. I have a lot of projects in work, but the final products only seem to trickle out. Tat told me that I have to think of it like farming. You plant a seed, you water it every now and again, and eventually a crop that you can bring to market comes out of it.

The idea about a set for spools is handy and a nice idea. But just to remind anyone who is looking to get a spool only swingarm stand, this would make it very hard to remove the rear wheel. So I would recommend getting a convertible rear stand, one that has both spools and pads.

Uh... for a little more protection, you gotta wrap a rubber tube around the metal bar. My bud did it for me last Saturday. He picked up a couple sliders off a sport bike web site,(I think he said GXR),ground them down a little, Picked up a threaded bar at Home Depot, covered it with rubber tubing and VIOLA!!! These things look sweet! Mine are black but they come in all different colors and stick out about an inch more! Oh..BTW...Total cost for parts....$15.00!

Stop wastin' his flava!

You don't need the rubber if the end pieces fit inside the axle - they keep the rod from ever touching anything it shouldn't.
