Tried asking on the KV but no response, so...
Left turn double apex, partial throttle @ 5k rpm, bike consistently "hiccupped" like a fuel flow problem. Happened on other parts of the track as well but hanging off in a corner was kind of a pain. Was fine in the straights at wot, so I don't think it's a fuel pressure issue. Bike is an 03 xb9r with factory race kit....any suggestions?

If this is happening after heavy braking then it is almost certainly fuel starvation. We experienced the same thing when racing our 03 model Xb, and needed to make sure the tank was pretty full every time out on track.

What happens is that the fuel surges forward under braking and starves the pump for a few seconds, so when you try to accelerate you get the hiccupping until it can get enough fuel again. Later bikes don't suffer so badly.

You can try to put some foam in the tank but we found it made little difference. A full tank is the answer : )

Thanks Trojan, had a feeling this was the case since it didn't happen at the beginning of the day (full tank). This particular bike is new to me and only been on the track twice, been sorting out bugs as they show up but being a track only bike it's the only time to find out.
My other bikes (all 03, xb's)have not done this, or at least to this extent.

Was it a single hiccup, or multiples at a time? Was it in all gears?

I race an 03 and have to agree with Matt (Trojan)

Buell Racing (back then) made a plastic "cup" that went around the pump and kept a small pool near the pickup so on lower tank levels, you would prevent that hiccup. They MIGHT still have them in stock... but you'd have to call.

Jeffroj: once a single, then a couple hiccups, same gear- damn near same spot on the corner.
Slaughter: So my bike needs a cup...that's funny, will look into it though.
Thanks guys!

Doz - EBR still has a TON of leftover accessories from the old Buell race days. Wouldn't be surprised if they didn't have one but like a lot of the old XB or XBRR stuff - might take a while to dig one up out of storage.
