+1 more on the AMSOIL 20w50. I became a dealer myself to get it cheaper. If you want some, let me know as I sell it straight at cost.

Yeah... the stuff Sifo posted. Use that : ).

Just don't use the smelly regular or Mobil 1 20-50. It's fine for the crank case but not for the stator.

The smelly Mobile 1 is the gear lube that is known to damage the stator, the Mobile 1 Vtwin engine oil is fine for the stator and the gearbox in my 03 likes it better than the few other oils I've tried. The stator problem was a case of using the correct fluid for the job, and the gear lubes were not the correct fluid because they had additives that wrecked the stator. I'm on my third season with Mobile 1 engine oil and second on the Vtwin, if it was going to eat the stator, I should be seeing it by now.
