So, my wifes xb12s had a bad battery. I changed the battery and connected it onto opposite poles(marked incorrectly)

I then connected it correctly, but it keeps on blowing the 30a fuse. I friend of mine said that the black fuse(diode/fude) might be blown, and should change this first before connecting the battery again.

Could this be the problem?
Please help, I am tired of my wife riding my 1125r(she enjoys it)

When the battery cables were connected incorrectly--was that the first time your 30A blew OR was it after the cables were connected correctly?

Have you done a breather hose re-rout, headlight/horn area wiring work, or taken your sprocket cover off recently?

Also, there are multiple posts about checking your charging system with a multimeter...

I had a recent problem with my 30A fuse blowing that turned out to be a shorted wire that was rubbing against the left rear cylinder where the main wiring harness enters the seat compartment. I did extensive research on why the 30A fuse might blow so with a little more information I (or someone else more experienced) may be able to guide you in the right direction towards finding the culprit...

Diode is suspect, cheap and easy to fix.

Always connect the positive cable on the battery first (and wear your glasses/readers).

These might help:

Both of these refer to blown relays with the battery connected backwards - I assume these relays must have internal clamping diodes.

I had the same experience. One of your relays shorted (only one shorted). But I replaced them all. Here's the list of relays that you can use:

SMP #16406
General 75157
Duralast part #19389
GEI AR4-012-C21S
Panasonic CM1-D-12V

You can get Panasonic from Mouser for less than $5 each.
