As Nik says, check your battery. Find out what your battery voltage is now; probably is low. Charge it up, in any case, and confirm that the battery cables are corrosion free and tight. Both ends.

Start the bike, and check your voltage at the battery terminals w/the RPM's 2-2.5K range. If you don't see something in the 13-14V range, it's time to look at the charging system.

Hope this helps, Dave.

My bike used to do the same thing and I thought it was the starter .
I purchased a motorcycle battery tender and keep it plugged in when I am not riding . The problem completely went away .

It helps to have the bike in neutral and the clutch pulled in as well.

My '08 had a warranty repair done to it when it failed to start at all... the starter had begun to spin slower and slower and finally went. Turns out it was the starter clutch assembly (according to the service receipt). Sure glad it happened while under warranty!

I bought a battery tender and it solved the problem. Thanks for the advise.
