Author Message   Rkc00 Posted on Thursday, July 08, 2004 - 06:11 pm:        It finally happened. The belt snapped on my 2003 XB9S 2 weeks ago. (5400 miles) Just got the new belt under the warranty and put it on myself. The dealer had an original belt in stock but I made them get me the new part. I asked them to do the upgrade to the 2004 setup but they suggested that I take it to a dealer that knows how to work on Buells. Anybody break one of the new 2003 belts? I have 1 month left on the warranty so if this one goes I will go to the 2004 setup. The fact that they've released a new belt for the '03s that is is stronger and completely redesigned the '04s means that they're well aware of it and taking steps to fix it. I've got over 15K on my original '03 belt. I'll probably buy another one before that just so I don't have any down time. I'm not worried about it. Belts easily have enough benefits to keep me from moving to a chain.   Bluefirebolt Posted on Friday, July 09, 2004 - 02:34 pm:        the belt on my 12R came appart at only 1300kms(800mls),was replaced under warranty,second one now has8000kms(5000mls) on it ,with hard abuse,no problems yet?!   Fullpower Posted on Friday, July 09, 2004 - 03:57 pm:        all the parking lots are gravel, and there is a lot of road construction here in summer. my belt broke and left me on the side of the road, 11 pm and 360 miles from home last weekend. it only had 6700 miles on, that is why i am considering a chain drive .
