I am thinking about buying the "Custom Seat" from Buell for my Firebolt. You know the one with a little more padding. I was just wondering what you guys think of them (especially you guys that own one). Thanks for any input!

My arse thanks me daily! Fits well and the additional cushion offers a welcome relief from the normal harshness related to long rides.

Well worth it until Corbin makes a custom for the Firebolt.

Buy it, you'll love it.

it was to soft for my feeling,

sold mine after 2oo km, and hade the local upholster shop put some 1" harder foam in the oem one ( i wanted the extra height as well )

it did the trick for me.

Great addition for comfort, but it is a bit on the soft side. I actually prefer the stock seat for ripping around on, but the Custom blows it away in everyday comfort.

OK, so keep the stocker for when you head to the canyons, and use the custom for daily rides... Sounds like I might need one!

Yep! That's what I do. Hard to beat the 'custom' for the longer cruises...

Wow Bud - you must be one tough dude, or your backside's made of stone!
Joking aside the custom seat is (supposed to be)harder than the stocker to keep it from packing down. Mine is. The stock seat was more comfortable to me at first but the custom turned out to be much better for anything more than a short ride. I bought it to raise the seat to peg distance which it does by about 1/2 in. The stock seat with its perforations, slant, and the way it packs down plants you more firmly in place. The custom is slicker and flat so you slide around a lot easier. On my first hard stop after getting the seat I almost ended up on the airbox and I wanted to give it away. Then I figured out from the proper bent arm riding position and those frame cutouts riding this bike is all about using your knees and now I like the custom seat better.
Bud's comment shows that every backside has its own opinion tho....

Was talking with a guy yesterday who has a chopped 750 Honda shadow. Looks like one of the Exile bikes now. Anyways his seat is nothing more than a piece of diamond plate. He has 7000 miles on it like that, just got back from a 800 mile rd trip to Iowa with it.

Anyways his seat is nothing more than a piece of diamond plate. He has 7000 miles...

...and I bet he can play "Old McDonald had a farm" with his testicles now, too? That's one way to weed out the gene pool...

That's just stupid. Perhaps he can go work with Mikey and the rest of the Tuttles at OCC...

I guess I'm a girly-man for wanting something that doesn't stip the flesh from my ...

; )

To each his own

If anyone likes Corbin seats (I do!) they have a form on their website to request products. Click here to tell them that us XB_R owners would like to see a seat from them. Otherwise I'll maybe get the Buell custom seat, but I don't want to have to be swapping seats out for different kinds of riding (especially since one of my seat threads came f'd up). The Corbin I had on my last bike was firm yet comfortable, not like the stock XB seat which is just firm!

I don't swap seats. I just use the custom seat only now. I put 200 miles on it today in fact.
Ooops make that yesterday now! I never once thought about my seat so it must be doing a good job for me! I'd last maybe five minutes on a diamond plate seat if I realy had to. Ouch!
