Has anyone ever replaced one? Ducati specifies every 6000 miles,replace,and i can't find a service life anywhere in the Buell service manual.I'm doing basic maintainance and figure at the moment there's a bunch of stuff i can easily do.I'm making a puller for the fuel pump housing currently.  the engine has since cleaned up nicely.The parts manual lists all the serviceable parts for the fuel pump.I've done the X1 a few times | ||

you dont need a puller for the fuel pump. A small flat head screw driver will work fine. But I replace the strainer anytime i have one out. | ||

Well....now i have a very good puller.  I matched a filter once from an autoparts store too,for my X1. It makes sense to sevice the pump at 15000 miles right? Two wires on the pump's AMP (?) connector have pulled out too.I think i'm getting those special crimping pliers to service both AMP and DEUTSCH connectors. I plan to source,hopefully,all of the OEM parts.Helps to have spares of the internal hoses too.Known to split on Ducs'. a pump i did last month  | ||

Sourcing the filter from an auto parts store sounds like a great idea. Please post the application if you figure it out for future reference. For that matter, I'll bet the fuel pump itself (not the whole flange/sensor/wiring deal) could be matched to an auto unit. This kind of info will be VERY useful to have in a few years. | ||

Well,that was easy to take apart.The intake filter(lowest left in pic)pried off easily.Do you think the parts are easily obtained from Harley? Unobtanium? A seemingly PUNY filter i'd expect could clog over time  | ||

So is that canister in the middle an actual fuel filter thats in there stock or one you are adding? I'm willing to bet that pump is relatively common. Just need to know any numbers on it and I'm sure it can be easily cross-referenced. Knowing the output specs would probably be helpful as well if we could get em. In any case awesome pics and narrative, thanks. As already said, going to be very very helpful in a few years, hell if not even now. | ||

The pump and "sock" filter look virtually identical to the ones on our 1993 Volvo 940T that I replaced last year. This car has an in-tank pump (that looks just like the Buell unit) and a separate pressure pump located under the car. One more issue: Can anyone suggest a supplier for some new "spades" i can use to repair the AMP connector on the pump. Two wires pulled out of the spades and i need new ones | ||
