first things first, I would really like to know how to quote others.

in case you didnt notice, its the squid that hates Buells that we are disagreeing with here.

that statement didnt come from strictly this thread.

it seems to me that the first thing people do when they get their bike is come straight to this site and say

A. They bought their bike to be different

B. They ask what recalls there are for their "harley owned bike"

I have to contribute this to other reading this board and people just falling into the group.

I dont know dyna but it seems from what i have heard from others, he got a pretty raw deal with what has happened to his buell.

Im beginning to become under the impression that buellers are like fly-fisherman, a good percentage of us feel that we are elitist and you must have a secret decoder ring in order to join the group. you will be looked down upon if you do not fish with a buell or ride a sage rod.

personally, I enjoy fishing with people who dont fly fish. they enjoy fishing with a 100 dollar rod for the fun of it. we compete between each other in good fun but at the end of the day, we have helped each other and had a good time while the guy with the sage rod seems to have his dick in his hand as he caught nothing and didnt have half as much fun as us.

but then again, at the end of the day, he is still associated with his group that 90% of their fun is taking jabs at those that dont fall into their group.

im gonna say once again that I love my bike. Im not special because of it. I get looks from people when im on it and when i go places, some bikers ask why the hell i bought it. doesnt bother me at all. I ride with primarily other brands of bikes because we are all out to have a good time and not judge each other because of the bike we ride.

This has gotten quite entertaining.

Ken - I think that right now you need to tap out. Dyna's been posting here much longer than you. And he's starting to get pissed off. And that's just the way it is. He can post about his Yamazukawahonda rice burner all he wants, and you can post about your Buell all you want. But if you get into a pissing match, I'm pretty sure I know which way it will turn out. And yes, that sucks, because it's a Buell board, not a Jap bike board, and it's not fair, but life's not fair. That's what makes life so damn interesting - it doesn't always work out the way you want it to.

Joojoo - Dude, that's a cool ring. I envy you to have such an understanding wife. I wish you the best of luck.

HOWEVER, some one posts something that is near and dear to them, and posting of negative opinions serve NO purpose to ANYONE

That's so true, joojoo and his wife are happy and they are different and we don't all have to be alike nor think alike !! So let them enjoy it without saying negative things about it !!

Very cool joo joo !!

Dyna,

i have been a dick, and i have been wrong. its time i just quit this childish BS. i apologize for the crap i posted, and im sorry to everyone else who had to read it.

I like the ring because of its practicality. Look at todays divorce rates, if you guys ever split up you'll still have a cool ring to wear.

I like it.

All the recrimination, rebuttals, apologies, and other stuff having been waded through, I gotta say that's a cool ring, Joojoo!

What metals is it made of? My wife is a part-time jeweller (spent the weekend finishing up a set of wedding bands for delivery today--her stuff is unique), so I have a bit of an idea of the amount of work that goes into something like that.

Hey Geoff,

Its 18K White Gold with 2 small diamonds. The sides of the ring is sandblasted for the textured finish....

Can't we all just get along.....................

Like I stated in my very first post "Opinions Needed", I'm sick of the Harley scene because everyone puts some dead cow skin on his and thinks he's freakin' Billy Jack. You want to know why I like H-D's and Buell's? (probably not, but oh well) They are machines. They are not covered up with plastic and chrome covers and crap (I'm talking older Harleys here; I'm a shovelhead man myself). I like the essence of the machine and, just as important, the history of our early days as a nation that it represents. Yea, the government helped them out once but they are still around and that means something; at least to me. It is an AMERICAN company of which I own a small amount of stock in. I don't agree with everything the Company does nor do I like the marketing practices or most employees; but, I spent 21 years of my life unselfishly defending America and everything American and my Wideglide and XB12S (in a few weeks) represent that commitment to me. Call me old, that's fine; call me narrow minded, that's fine. I'm not looking for any new friends; I have plenty. Lots of faster products out there but they just don't seem to have that............red,american blood flowing in them.........for what it's worth.............Odie

Right on Odie...

I too love riding a machine created in the vain of American tradition spliced with technical ingenuity.
I love being proud of my frame and the engine and not plastic and paint.
I love knowing the herd has made their weekly trip to the dealer mesmoronized by the chrome and leather while I am at home in the backyard removing extraneous parts.

Bling is for rings!!!

Can the XB owners be proud of their frames since they are made in Italy & not america?

Can the HD owners be proud of their carbs & fi systems & shocks & wheels & tires & god knows what else even tho they too are made in foreign countries?

Believe it or not & this may come as a revelation to some out there, but actual tax paying USA citizens actually own Honda/Suzuki/Kawasaki/Yamaha dealerships. They pay wages to their employees, they pay taxes to both state & federal governments. Buying a "jap" product helps out the US economy just as much as buying a Buell or a HD. And dont even try the old "but the profits stay here vs going overseas" line. Do you get a say in willie g's check? What about the Japanese businessman who lives in japan yet owns HD stock & has gotten rich off of it? Hmm his dividend checks go to his bank account in Japan, so by HD profiting so do the foreigners.

World market now days folks. You can try & live in a bubble & shield yourself from the effects of it, but its useless.

I am completely aware of the implications of a globalized economy.
And can be proud of my frame regardless of where it was manufactured. That is not the point. Additionally, I could care less about where the money goes after it leaves my lien holder or who is making money off HD stock.
I take pride in knowing my machine is the next generation brought to us by one of the most successful American companies of all time.
With something that is an extension of my personality I'll always take tradition with a twist.

Pray tell, who owns Harley/Buell dealerships? Where do they pay taxes?

I'll agree, our current market means that a larger portion of the revenue ends up overseas than in previous years, but please don't tell me that because the import dealers pay tax it doesn't matter where the money is spent.

Let's not bring up this thread again . . . unless you actually believe you can shop anywhere and everyone shares the revenue equally.

Anyway, that's the beside the point. I can't speak for the rest of you, but I'm not necessarily proud of my Buell because Americans got the profit- I'm proud of my Buell because Americans designed and built it.

I listen to talk radio too and I'm very aware of the global marketplace. There is evidence of it right here on this forum. It is thriving. I never said that I buy strictly American. I am further aware of the fact that very un-American (Chinese) parts go into thousands of items manufactured here. What I'm saying is that, from the perspective I have (21 years military with combat tours in Iraq, Somalia, Bosnia, and drug interdiction right here in the good ol' US of A) I have grown to appreciate VERY MUCH the status quo here in the states. You can not truly appreciate what you have until you don't have it and then realize how crappy life is in 3rd and 4th world countries getting shot at every day and night wondering if you're coming home to your newborn boy. If, by some chance, my purchasing an American product, whether it is 100% American or not, will somehow make OUR economy better then great. And you know what- I can sleep better at night because of it. I had an new '85 Interceptor when I was a young 19 year old and loved the bike. I couldn't afford a Harley at the time. There are great products made throughout the world but, if a little bit more of the money I spend stays here, the better off I feel............dang, I need a beer!!!
