Ok, quite a few questions here. I bought a Buell race pipe to put on my 09 SS. I've, read that you have to unhook the servo because the race pipe does not use it, and this will cause a check engine light. You can disable this in ECM spy, but I'm not sure if ECM spy will work on a 2009 model. If ECM spy won't work on an 09 SS, how do I stop the check engine light from coming on? Will I need to do any remapping because of the race pipe?

Oh yeah,

Happy Buell Year to everyone and thanks for all the great help this forum provides.

You can leave the servo installed and you won't get a CEL ... just disconnect the cable going to the muffler.

Remapping is a good idea since the Race Pipes were supposed to be used with the race ECM.

So will ECM spy work with an 09?

not ecm spy...

Ecmspy Mono or Tunerpro RT V5 are your only options with a stock ecm. Thats it for full power in stock ecms.

with Erik Buell Racing ecm you can use ebr tuner and these options.

you have three choices to do it in the ecm.

Or as posted already just unhook the cable running to the pipe and leave the servo in place in the top and hooked up. Just not hooked to the pipe. I recommend taking the wire off the bike running from the servo to the pipe. If you do it the ecm way remove the whole servo and wire leaving the harness side only. But if you like you can take that out.

Thanks for the help. Is it necessary to do any tuning at all? How will the bike run with the race pipe and no changes to the stock ecm? Is it ok to do this?

Or Like Petebueller said the Erik Buell Racing route is the simple way. Call them and order it up. Do not do adjustments to it or it voids the warranty. They can tell!!!

I have a race muffler on my 2010 12R with everything else stock. I disconnected the cable to the servo valve and tied it out of the way. I have had no problems or check engine lights on my bike as of yet. I will be upgrading to an Erik Buell Racing race ecm later. I think the DDFI III has enough adaptation to adjust for the exhaust change. But that is just my opinion based off of how my is running.

I live at sea level but did hammer on the bike in Suches during BTF4 with no problems

I think the DDFI III has enough adaptation to adjust for the exhaust change.

It when you allow more air in, that you will need to tune or a tuned ECM to add more fuel.
