I recently put the 12 airbox, drummer, race ecm, and K&N filter on my bike. Got the bike on a dyno yesterday and it only dynoed at 73.4hp. He did three pulls and it was the same each time. He did it for free and didn't do the torque, but I expected more. Any ideas?

What were the numbers before all of the mods? You may have picked up 10HP but if you did not do a baseline run you will never know.

The guy that did the dyno, the dealership owner, said he dynoed it before I bought it and it dynoed at 78 stock. I don't think that was right, but I do know that it is way stronger now.
Regular dyno at a harley dealership.

Are you sure he ran it to bikes redline? A lot of dyno guys are used to not running buells past 6500rpm. Also when looking at the tach on an XB9R it is not real clear where the redine is.

If it's way stronger... I wouldn't worry.

Moby
you would really need a baseline run to know for sure. Plus I had a guy drive down from virgina one day that had the drummer. He had the same thing. well I ask if the bike had been warmed up before the pulls. he said no. so we took it back to the dyno and warmed it up did a couple pulls in 4th gear and then a few in 5th and it consitanly came to 80 or 81 hp.

also remember if you have a baseline from different days it can vary. I have seen it vary as much hp on the same day as the weather changed.

but without a baseline its like dave said....every dyno reads different. If it feels strong ride it out

LOL...those red dots in my post are, in order, a dash, space, dollar sign, and the number five. I cannot for the life of me figure out how that's obscene in any way.

I dyno'd my '03 GS at Vallejo HD/Buell on Monday as part of the BRAG "No Win'n". 79 rwhp and 71 lb/ft torque. Completely stock.

Yeah, I'm with you.

I must have a weak XB, because when I had it on the dyno it was only showing 70hp(max)!

Does anyone know what the heck is going on??!!

I have the XB12 airbox, race ecm, k&n air filter, D&D slip-on, snorkle removed, and the TPS has been reset. Don't blame it on the D&D. It read only 73hp(max) with the Buell race muffler on the dyno (same day). Any ideas? I don't know what's wrong. I'm sad....make me feel better?

Is it fun? Then quit complaining! Most likely there is NOTHING wrong and you're putting too much stock in a very fallible process.

If it really bothers you, try going to a couple different dynos - some read high, some low, blah, blah, blah.

FWIW, mine's read anywhere from 78HP to nearly 83HP, and 59FT/LBS - 66FT/LBS of torque, all on the same dyno run by the same technician.

Who cares, if it sounds and feels good let it be.If we were looking for higher HP we would all buy Jap sportbikes but there is a reason we buy and ride Buell. Think about it

i think thats what they are. dyno tuned, mine is now 78.9
so if nallin/force adds 10-12 you do the math to see what they really are stock

I thought this is a site for fellow Buell owners to ask questions about things that they don't know and others, who are Buell intelligent, could shed some light? I wasn't complaining at all. Maybe the lighthearted way I expressed my concern was wrong? I was just concerned that people are posting stock hp in the 80s while I was barely in the 70s. I thought that maybe something could be wrong and was asking for help. Trust me, I DID NOT buy this bike to throttle wheelies at 60mph and go from stop light to stop light in 1 second flat. For some reason I was excited to log back on here to see suggestions. I know that some members on this site know their stuff. Oh well, no harm no foul.

I think you'll be hard pressed to find a 9 with stock power in the 80s, and I wasn't trying to be insulting. I never got mine dynoed stock, only with the kit, but most people with stock 9s get low to mid 70s.

Again, placing too much faith in dynos is a bad idea. If you are truly worried that there is something 'wrong' with your bike (and I say again, I doubt it), then go demo a stock one, wring it out, then hop back on yours and do the same. See which one feels stronger.

You're probably right. It feels really strong to me. I was kind of blowing off my dyno numbers until I saw this post. I'm not going to hold much faith in them. Sometimes it's better to just not know.

Mine was not warm at all. It had been sitting for an hour. I'm not too worried about it, just wanted some thoughts.
