I got a letter from Jon Flickinger thanking me for the letter I sent to the Board of Directors sharing my opinion. It further goes on to state that H-D did not take the decision lightly to discontinue Buell and is proud of the exciting products, passionate employees who have produced many innovative advancements in motorcycle design and technology. It goes on to say the Company's strategy is to strengthen H-D for long-term growth... Then finishes off with thanking me again for taking my time to share my thoughts with them.

That's pretty cool that you actually got a response. It sounds like the typical corporate babble to me though. HD could care less about Buell. At least that's how I view it.

Jon works for Harley Davidson. A smart man does not bite the hand that feeds him...

He does work for HD...but I have yet to see him at an event, even the HD Dealer Show, in anything other than blue and black Buell clothing.

I don't know if I'd recognize him in orange. Guess I'll have to get used to it now though...

Well, at least now if I see him at another track day, I might be able to catch him. He'll be scraping those XR1200 pegs all the way through the turn and it'll be easy for me to sneak by on the inside...

Flick isn't the problem, he is part of the solution. Unfortunately, some heads have to roll before his handcuffs come off...

Sounds like they put him to work getting us off their flanks.

I'd go along with that.

I'm not thrilled with what Harley-Davidson did but I've never known Jon Flickinger to be anything but honest, straight forward and dedicated.

He, in my book, is a top notch individual.

Yes, it does sound like typical corporate babble but just the fact that they actually took the time to write a letter back to me is great. I think I might even get a cheap frame and hang it up in my office somewhere.

That's an accurate statement!

I wasn't implying anything negative about Jon, just about HD's use of resources. I would not want to be in Jon's position.

Jon and i had a fairly decent talk about the position he's in at the last ride. funny thing is most all he was worried about was all the employees. its exactly what ive come to expect from him.

basically ive gotten to know him well enough over the years that i could see how difficult of a position he was in. you could see how much of a toll it was taking on him. he didnt look like he'd been sleeping any better then Erik.

as has been said though, its very dumb to bite that hand that feeds you, and even dumber when it also feeds your family...

one thing i am sure of though is Jon's a hell of a good guy. and i still plan on drinking with him at homecoming
