What are the possibilities of Erik taking all of his motorcycle know how over to a company that yearns to be competitive in the motorcycle game, but knows nothing about building bikes such as Ford, GM and Chrysler?

Lets not forget as much trouble as these companies have seen in recent times, they have a major budget from our government to develop fuel efficient transportation. With Erik’s success in creating reliable automotive marvels these companies would add the capital to be major players in a hurry.

As great a bike as Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki and Suzuki all make is there not somebody out there who would love their motorcycle to bear the same name as the American pick-up that carries it in its bed?

I really, REALLY mean no disrespect, but aren't these the exact same questions that have been floating around in 3 dozen posts for the past 2 weeks...?

Only the first four questions. Where Erik could go next is unique: )

Better!

Huh. A Ford Motorcycle. My Ss already has Ford injectors....

That would certainly be interesting. I can see an ad campaign with the new bike, a new Mustang, and a Ford GT all duking it out.

Damn, the more I think about it, the more I like the sound of it!

No way I'd buy a Government Motors bike though. They'd probably make Erik build something like this:

that's a very Japanese concept. American companies don't like to put all their eggs in one basket.

Doesn't the american V-Twin exude many of the torque and sound qualities of an american V8? Would that not be appealing to many american truck/perfomance car buyers?

I don't know much about NASCAR but the american builders seem to have it on lock.

Wouldn't they like for that same dominance to transcend to motorcycles?

HD is a motorcycle company that didn't give a rip about Buell because Buell wasn't their "core business". How do you think Buell would get treated by a car company?

The "soup de jour" is centralization. A while ago, it was diversification.

Until NA gets away from rent-a-CEO, you'll have to wait for tomorrow's menu.

These guys move from failure to failure, with "no cut" clauses and very sweet exit packages.

NA needs a new business model, not an American copy of a Japanese system that failed on the '90s which, in turn, was a copy of an American system that failed in the '30s.

It's like these guys never read to the end of the book...

Wait...what? American companies don't put all their eggs in one basket??? You mean like the American company that simultaneously built and sold four types of SUVs while the writing was on the wall that gas prices were going to rise? Or how about the one that built something like 6-7 types of pickup trucks while neglecting to put R&D into developing interesting, fuel efficient cars?

>> that's a very Japanese concept. American companies don't like to put all their eggs in one basket.

How about the ones that offer multi fuel designs in Brazil and can't get past the politics here?

How about the ones that promise that, in return for bailout help and kicking the unions, they'll build a car with great mileage? There's no new science involved: cars had better mileage in 1989, 60 mpg, and they were built in NA.

Don't get me started. HD are rank amateurs compared to the big three.

If Erik built one, I'd ride the hell out of a Ford

I like my 98 pony.. 196k on the clock and she still runs like new. Could use some major mass centralization though..

I'd suggest discontinuing production, firing all employees involved in the project, and refusing to sell any intellectual property. : )

Good point.

But, if the elves were able to stay non-union under HD's umbrella why would that not be the case under Ford?

I like the idea of a Ford XB but not a GM. I believed in GM for the longest time i even own an S-10 and all the trucks i ever owned have all been Chevy but i am done with GM and my next truck will be a Ford so my next bike might as well be Ford too

Here's another thought in the absence of Court now days, If Chrysler, ran by Fiat, built Buells, would Rossi race/ride them? Would Yamaha be upset that they didn't make that offer? Would the UAW allow them to be non-union?

I love the creativity here fellas. Can you imagine a Chevy or Ford Sportbike next to a Camaro, or Mustang on the Showroom Floor?Erik could really have some fun with this. How could this be pitched to him?

GM is toast, at least for many folks.

We're preparing to buy 2 vehicles in the next couple months and, in an effort to "Buy American" we're looking to dump the 2006 Mercedes for . . perhaps a Ford.

Fords amazing new quality numbers last week, passing Honda and Toyota for the first time, helped convince the SCU. The fact that you can buy 4 of them for the price of the MB didn't hurt either.

As long as there is a nickel of government money in GM or Chrysler I wouldn't accept a free one if it was given to me.

Well Twinv chevy sold the Hummer3 I think to China. They have not been on the Green wagon as well as Ford and Ford trucks are awesome. There once was a day that FORD only meant Found On Road Dead but for me the day is coming where they might be First On Race Day for me. I am just very saddened that Chevy has not done more than ruin itself
