Anyone have a good option? Looks like the ulysses will mount up but the lightnings have a black crinkle finish. Need about another inch to make the bike usable.

uly pegs have the same drop as lightnings. unless you're referring to bolting up the whole peg bracket...

Yes - I think the bracket will work.
I'm interested in buying a lightning but need a drop of an inch or so more. Will brackets interchange?

The stock lightning pegs are as low as you can go without changing the brackets. The Ulysses brackets will bolt right up, but you will need a new rear brake line and need to change a bit of the shift linkage. You are looking at something like $300 if you get new parts.

Perhaps you can swap on a taller seat? The old CityX seat is taller than the standard seat.

thanks for the suggestion but I want to buy a xb12ss. I'm debating it right now. Either that or a superduke, but currently I wone a M2 so I'm a bit partial to Buells, especially if I can solve the peg dilemma ..

Didn’t think my then 58 year old knees could take it on the 07TT without lowering the pegs. However after riding it and getting use to the peg height I actually prefer it.

With handlebar risers, (Rox 2-inch and Pacific 1-inch) I find the riding position on the TT more comfortable and less strain on both the back and knees than my stock 72 Beemer.

If Uly pegs can be fit, why not aftermarket Uly pegs? These will give you an additional 1" drop, and they're made by Badweb sponsor Precision Engineering:

The Uly pegs will fit but are very wobbly, you would need washers or something to suck up the extra space. I would imagine the same with those pegs.

Just a bit of knee fatigue and the fact that I want to be able to stand up on the bike from time to time as the need arises. I want to use the lightning on an occasional bad dirt road, or pothole city.

Might be academic - not getting the love from the dealer with the bike I hoped for...not any dealer close that is. Local guy came up with a great price, then added $1200 in fees!

By the time I can get to the good deals 100 miles away, they may be gone.

Froggy, when you say the pegs are wobbly and you "need a washer or something to take up the extra space" do you mean that it's sloppy side to side (in which washers would work) or do you mean that the pin is bigger than the hole (or whatever) in which case a bushing would be needed?

The pin is the same, but the distance from the top to the bottom of the Uly peg mounts is smaller, so when you put them on a XB you will have extra vertical play.

You can also get the Sport Seat for it. Adds another inch. That's what I did.

Is the sport seat more comfy? Also remember the stt single seat being pretty good when I test rode the bike two years ago as an stt.

Its a bit more firm than the stock, but also allows you to move around more easily. I noticed this initially as my azz got sore quicker than usual. That was half way through the season last year. Now this year my azz has not gotten sore once. I don't know, maybe my azz was accustomed to the softer stock seat last year. And I'm sure the seat in broken in a bit now.

I'm in this boat too. Looking at an XB12Ss but have old, beat up knees. Will the sport seat work with a pillion?

Just a guess, but the Precision pegs are made by a machine shop company...

If you were to ask them to make their Uly Drop pegs (1" or 2" drops available) to fit Lightnings, they might be willing to do it.

That way, no washers would be needed to fill the gap.

was thinking the same thing. Also if I get the stt seat might be in business. 2 inches or so would be good. Three is even better. I really liked the location on my M2.

I want to be able to stand on the bike to clear potholes, speed bumps, and moderate dirt. Dirt tracking should be good fun on this bike so if I get no better clearance than the old M2 but gain suspension I'll be mucho happy.

Contacted a guy named Knight about his foot pegs - he says he will work on it soon

I would rather have the peg style than the off road from precision. The off road style will make your foot want to stay flat. This is great when riding my dirt bike and it encourages you to stand up, but here I will be moving around to make that corner or up and down hills, and will want to angle my foot for comfort from time to time.
