Went out for a ride today hoping to enjoy one of the last good riding days here.

Pretty short ride. About fifteen minutes into it, I misjudged a red light. Hit the brakes, stoppie, back off, brakes again, stoppie. This time up and over.

Probably winter clothes made me look too long to make sure lane was clear... then the red light.

Probably didn't get my weight far enough back when I got the first stoppie down.

Lools like it lost a mirror and a footpeg. Couldn't see much else. 911 made people hold my head and keep my helmet on. I had already walked off the road, with assistance. Police said the bike looked okay other than that.

Me, broken collarbone and bruises all over. Going to enjoy my drugs tonight (scripts) because everybody says tomorrow is going to be Hell.

ATGATT: police, emerg, doctors all commended my gear. Big bruises either side of knee pads, either side of tailbone pad, no road rash. I am a believer: less recovery time, more riding time (although that's me done until April).

Ouch! Bike land on you? Seems like very little damage for a flip!

Feel better soon!

Yes, I cushioned the blow. It was the least I could do.

Thanks for all your kind words.

Sorry to hear it, hope you have a speedy recovery (for you and your bike!), and I am glad you are here to tell the story.

Also, thanks for the warning. I thought of your booboo as I rode in this morning, all bundled up the cooler weather. It served as a good reminder to give myself the extra time and space needed when wearing more layers.

Good to see you have some humor about it. Glad you're okay.

Like Bolt says, good to know you're OK and are taking it with a good attitude.
What were you wearing ? You should probably send pictures of your gear to that magazine (ill find out which one it was), where they give you a full new setup for your old, scratched gear. Do you know which one i mean ?

Healing is coming along. Insurance has been pretty good.

My work will pay Accident benefits and some of the med costs.

Insurance (me) will top up some of the money benefit; pay for physio; new prescription sunglasses to replace ones broken in crash; pay to replace pads in clothing; wanted to get me a new jacket but it's not much of a scar.

Got appraised for physio today. Liked the size and colour of the bruises, indicates tissue damage. Knee bruises scared him, kept saying if I hadn't had the Adventure pants with the knee protectors, I wouldn't be walking for a while. Probably off work for a while yet.

Insurance (bike) is getting funny. Saw it for the first time yesterday. Not too bad. Except it's a Harley shop and every scratch has to be replaced. They were ready to total it. I showed where previous owner had laid it down and scratched the swingarm and timing cover, where it fell off the kickstand and broke the turn signal and bent the clutch lever last summer. Appraiser commended me for being honest. The shop has great mechanics so no problem there.

Looks like it went right over and then fell on the right side, gouges on the fairing, screen and air cover, broke mirror, footpeg, etc.

Policeman gets back from holiday next week so I'll find out then if there's any charge but at the time he didn't think so.
