I really want Al's billet catch can but I have to wait a bit for the cash to build up and I really wanted to do the breather mod so I decided to find a cheap temporary solution for it. I went to NAPA and purchased a 3/8ths inch inline fuel filter for $13 and went with some clamps and this is what I ended up with.  I didn't want to just plug the old hose back into the now empty holes in the bottom of the air box so I searched all over town for a suitable plug that wouldn't put the engine at risk. I ended up getting these at Lowe's for about $1 each. The are tapered and I inserted them from the bottom with the help of some silicon lube which I wiped away after I squeezed them in.  I tried to route the new lines on a down slope as best as I could. I took the old heat sheath off and cut split it into two pieces so now both lines have a sheath and are secured with electrical tape and a zip tie. My intent was to make the mod look professional and clean.  So now, all I need to do tomorrow is go for a decent ride and figure out how to get the ECM to learn. Anyone have any tips for that? Let me know what you think... Also, does everything look plumbed sufficiently? | ||

Everything looks great to me, one thing I question is your filter, I would be worried about the goop going out the filter rather than the bottom. Perhaps some longer hose and point the filter up a bit? As for the ECM, don't worry about it, just ride.  | ||

I think I'm tracking. What you are suggesting is to add more hose to the breather side and get it pointed up some more kinda like an "L" instead of straight off the line tee. Right? I almost like the novelty of having a sight glass so you can see when it's time to drain the sucker. Although I don't know how long it will look that pretty. | ||

Why not just make a box or bottle with holes in it where air can escape but oil gets trapped and it fits over the factory location. No need to route outside the airbox cover. | ||

Why not just make a box or bottle with holes in it where air can escape but oil gets trapped We don't want to recycle the dirty hot air back through the engine. Most of the immediate gain from this mod is from more cool oxygenated air in the charge. | ||

Nextcorner, go into the hardware section, and find the fasteners isle with all the pull out drawers. Walk down and look for all the furniture caps and clamps and things like that *mid aisle at this store*. You should find them in one of the drawers. They are in small bags I brought the air box into the store and matched them up. They are tapered and the end you see in the picture is the small end and they look just like rubber wine corks almost. When you put them in I would grease it a little to help you twist them in. The you are set. | ||

I built mine from PVC pipe & end caps. It's mounted with zip ties on a scrap piece of aluminum that bolts to the oil cooler mount. Couldn't get much simpler or cheaper. An easy way to plug the holes in the bottom of the air box is to us a few inches of vent line looped from one hole to the other. You will probably have enough extra unless you really bought *just enough* vent line. Just like me, cheap and simple!    | ||

The Rockstar and Redbull cans are awesome. I already have a Drummer can on it's way but if I didn't, I would copy the that Redbull one in a heartbeat. It would be so appropriate for me | ||

I haven't decided on a drain plug yet... I may try one on the NOS bottle (mainly because I will probably NEVER put it on) I only made the NOS because a friend thought it would be "so cool, people will think you actually have NOS on that thing!" but its not my style. | ||

It keeps the goo off the bike/road/tire/whatever. I run mine open, but away from everything else. I DO NOT run at a track right now, but if I did, I would put one on. | ||

You may or may not find a K&N filter, but most of the auto parts stores have similar filters in their "Import Tuner Cars Of Destiny and Furiously Furious" section... this section usually consists of cheaply made parts that look cool. I used an off brand one, all it needs to do is vent some crank case gases... | ||

most of the r/c filters are foam and contaminate quickly, or break down when wet. I wanted this one. maybe Ill just buy it online http://www.knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?Prod= 62-1000 in my case the smaller the better, I want to hide it out of sight. most of the ricer parts are too big. Ricers want those LOOK AT ME! LOOK AT ME! parts. my parts stores suck, this is not the city to live in if you do your own work. | ||

When I viewed the youtube video of the balloon, it would seem the vent line does not "inhale" and only exhales. Is the filter on the breather line really needed? If the breather line inhales, I could see the need. | ||

Advance auto parts sells small breather filters as well, just look for the SS mesh ones, not the clog-able K&N style ones. The SS ones I have only seen in orange though.  | ||
