I simply replaced mine with some hyper whites, H7 I think is the number. Any auto parts store will have them. They are much brighter than stock. Tail light you need to go with our buddy Rob at www.xblights.com. Little pricey but from what I've personally witnessed on two bikes I've seen with them, nearly blinding. EXCELLENT product. | ||

I've had them for a few months, they are VERY sturdy, but not waterproof- they work fine enclosed in blinkers and tail lights. New technology LED's, high power. I had a LED 1157 light in my tail light, I had the "superbright" red one and had to paint the plate light window black, so it doesn't light up the plate in red, had to get LED plate bolts blah, blah, blah. Then half of the LED's burnt out and I got this kind, regular white one. The sucker is SO bright, it's way better then the previous one, which was better than the stock filament bulb. | ||

I use a Radiantz 1157 base 1.85" LED cluster. Has 48 LEDs. Very bright. We occasionally will receive an email telling us that some company has an LED replacement for $5.95, and that we're crazy for spending more. Just for the record, there are cheap LED's and their are good LED's. The cheap ones can have as low as a 5 degree wide light spread plus they can be very dim. The really good LED's currently have a 120 degree light spread and put out 4,000 milli-candela per LED -- but you'll pay for them. It doesn't make any sense to try and improve your rear lighting but use cheap LED's that actually decrease visibility instead." The problem that I find with replacement LED bulbs is that sometimes it's hard to distinguish the difference between the running light and the brake light, as the running feature of the bulb is too bright. I have the heavycycles LED taillight with the integrated signals from American Sportbike. I had them make mine with red LEDs for the signals as I was going to hook them up to a tail blazer. I have not seen a XBlights tail in person, but they look very good. I got my tail before XBlights was making them. | ||

Dennista- I had this problem once, turned out that I had stuck the bulb in the socket backwards, it was running the brighter half instead of a running light and adding a little bit of light when the brake was applied. I turned the bulb 180 degrees and voila! Turned out the plastic socket in the tail light is kinda soft and you can force a bulb in there the wrong way. |
