...anyone know if the length changed on the Firebolt's clutch cable over the years?

I just put a new one on my '03, but the damned thing seems like it's about an inch or so too long no matter how I fiddle with the adjustments, and the adjuster itself sits just barely above the lower p-clamp. It works fine, but it kind of makes me nervous since the additional length causes it to bow a bit at the lever and I don't like that being stressed.

The part number of the one I was given is the same as in my original parts book, except it is a "D" whereas my parts book shows an "A".

Could it be for a Lightning?
I would double check.

When buying a new clutch cable it's best to compare the new next to the old.

I would expect the Lightning to be a different P/N (anyone with a Lightning parts book comfirm?), not just a different revision of the same - and I did compare them, I just figured the difference would be taken up in the adjustment.

From my '03 Lightning parts book... Clutch Cable p/n is 38613-03.

Yeah, that's different than the part I have. I figured it was just an updated version (for instance, the new one has Teflon on it), but I can figure out what might have caused it to have the adjuster in a different place and be that much longer than mu original.

...mayhap I'm just crazy.

Heh...it only goes in one way, Old. I've got a lot to learn, but I'm not that backwards. ; )

What's the Blast number?

I've had that mix-up before.
