Will the funds permit a shed? I'll have to look at who built the one I just bought. They allow monthly payments with no credit check...I'll post back later.

I live in an apartment and have a buell cover. It is very heavy duty and looks cool too! Also a wheel lock and a kryptonite chain are good.

My brother put his bikes in a tent. He has a Valkerie and a CBR. Keeps em both out of the weather and you would never know they were in there. Poor mans garage I guess. : )

I'm in the same situation. I use a tarp and 3 bungies.

I'm considering an instant garage, those 8x10 tent things. Princess Auto has them on sale for about $100 once in a while.

Locally, there's some Mennonites that have nice sheds for about $2000 installed.

I think all im reduced to is maybe a parking space or two.. and one will be taken up by my truck..and yeah ill be in some sort of apartment complex.. so people, lots of people will be around.. hope none of them have sticky fingers..So not only looking for keeping it from weather like rain, hail, HOT HOT sun, ice, snow, i live in kansas.. but also keeping it safe from being stolen!..

how about an enclosed trailer. Always useful if money permits

First double check with if their is an "apartment association"-group that makes up rules for the complex. Mine had specific spaces for bikes and did not allow things like trailers or tents, only a cover at most.

Last apartment I was in did not allow bikes to ride or trailers to park on their property. Check that out. See if they will allow an enclosed trailer.

I don't know who makes it but I have seen a tiny tent type enclosure that you pull into and zip up over the bike. Probably the most protection your gonna be able to get but again - there might be a rule against these or a bitchy neighbor might complain.

Do you have to move to this specific building? I was looking to move recently, but my two priority was a garage/shed, and Verizon Fios internet.

pretty much... due to a lease.. and dead beat roommates who bailed on paying there rent..Either that or try and pay off the lease/rent for the year.. or move out which is cheapest..but stay in the same complex due to my lease, so i have some what of a good standing still..im losing the lovly garage.. and moving to cheaper place by myself without a garage/carport/ or any thing.... so my bike may end up out in the parking lot now.

FYI most apartment companies are sympathetic to you breaking a lease, as long as the unit is immediately rented.

Years ago I was in a similar situation (roomy issue). I did a little advertising myself and helped get the unit rented at an increased rent.

The landlords were thrilled to let me go.

I would use craigslist, and little bait money to attract someone.

Cheap way would be to buy a roll of Tyvek house wrap(9ftx150ft)sew up a tent put velcro on one end.The stuff is really tuff+breathable.

Come on bear. Not one word on needing some help on this on KCLW? Bwesky lives out in lawerance and used to have a lightning. Pm him see where he hides his bike at. Also, if you jump onto kcsportbike.com you might find a guy or two out there that can help you out.

And on the note of worrying bout thieves in apartments, I got my 06' stolen from my old place here in KC. replaced it with an 07' that was in a storage unit bout 5 miles away from my place that I rented. VERY inconvienient. But I never was worried about someone stealing it.

I usually keep mine in my kitchen, but when i have to leave it outside i just put it under a good cover and put a disc lock on it. I would recommend a cover without a brand on it, as those attract more attention from a potential thief

Here's some complicated ideas that might work depending.

If you're still on the lease, you have the garage.

If you sub it out, keep the garage for yourself.

Talk to landlord, if they sub it, you'll cover the garage.

I had my mx race trailer stolen from an apartment parking lot. Never got it back. So I understand the risks involved. My bike was safe in a buddy's garage.

Is there a mini storage unit close? Some of them will let you store a bike in them.

Gotta find you some land man...I don't think I could go back to an apartment after having all the land I do.

Between my old man and I, we own the back half of a private road. My old man, my brother and me have chipped in for our 12x20 toy storage...fits three bikes pretty comfortable...the electra glide is blocking the view of a fat boy and you see the buell being held up by the rafters.

This one is strictly for tools and stuff...I'll fit one bike no problem, maybe two...

Ratfink thanks for the input.. Ill post there too and get some Kansas ideas as well.. still looking for more options in keeping the bike close to me.. rather than in a storage unit or with some one else, that way when i wanna ride... i can just ride! weather it be at any time of the day or night!
