Below are pics of my addition of Hella Optilux auxiliary lights. I looked at various methods attachment and decided on the pictured since they are somewhat hidden. The bracket started out as a 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" x 1/4" thick 6061-T6 Aluminum angle. The angle was is attached to the turn single rod and I added a 10-32 flat head screw through the existing turn signal pin hole for stability. All holes and edges are rounded to reduce the possibility of stress risers and cracks. The bracket is very stiff.

All fasteners are Stainless Steel.

The aux lights are triggered by the high beam and have their own power source and relay. I also installed an HID low beam with its own power source and relay. The high beam is stock.

All lights are on when on high beam.

It has been raining for the past two days in Chicago so I had it out side only briefly. There is a lot of light! I will need to play around with alignments weather permitting.

Nobuell, you did an excellent job with this fabrication ... very professional looking and clean. My lack of electrical knowledge has kept me from adding auxiliary lights to my bike. What do you mean by "its own power source"? Also, can you provide references to any books that illustrate how to add lights and do other electrical work on motorcycles?

Typically if you buy a set of aux lights they come with a wiring diagram that is easy to follow, and harnesses. I've found that it's mostly plug & play with minimal splicing.

Thanks for the compliment. My goal was to make the brackets blend-in as much as possible.

"By it's own power source" = Power lead to the relay is a fused source directly attached to the positive battery terminal.

Zatco81 is correct. The aux lights came with a wiring harness and wiring diagram. However, the relay wiring diagram shown in various places on this website will show the same thing. The only downside of the supplied harness is it's size. There is to much wire since it is sized for a car.

The lights are available at http://www.rallylights.com/detail.aspx?ID=1010 for $19.95. They are a special buyout with limited quantities. The lights have glass lens and metal bodies.

This weekend I plane to remove the lights to reroute and shorten some of the wiring. I will take additional pictures and I will sketch the bracket. There is also a spacer that I fabricated that goes between the aux light bracket and the fairing to fill the dimple area were the turn-signal is attached. I will sketch it as well.

Thanks for the heads up on the lights being on sale. I just ordered a set.

Your setup looks very clean. I'll see if I can come close on my Stt.
