i got the same lights that Nobuell got, and installed them similarly to his here;

http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/327 77/455948.html?1242178536

i made the mounting brackets from some angle brackets from true value. i decided to mount the lights above the signal stalks. i was going to paint them, but got the idea of calling the local powder coater to see if i could piggy back on a batch they might be running. just so happened they were getting ready to run some black, so i jumped in, get this, the guy who answered the phone's name is Ulysses!!! go figure. i had to get the stirrup brackets that were included with the lights re-coated because i had to grind a bit of clearance since i tucked them in tight to the signal stalks. the wiring was straight forward, at least for me. i mounted the relay (used a better one than what was provided in the kit!) on the battery bracket under the seat, there was an unused pim nut. wired the supply straight to the battery with a fuse holder, i used an ATO style instead of the one included in the kit. i ran the output and switch wire up front along the factory harness on the left side and up into the flyscreen area. i decided at this point that the output wire (black) was not of sufficient AWG so i re-ran some 14 AWG in its place. i tapped the signal wire into the hi beam wire and grounded the lights to the bracket under the flyscreen. put some loom and zip tied everything up nice and neat, looks and works great. still yet to try it at night.

bracket;

notice the line drawn on it, following the contour of the mounting boss.

both brackets cut and drilled, ready for color;

back from the powder coater;

cost me $20.00 because they had to strip the stirrup brackets first.

bracket mounted in place;

note: the gray thing is a drywall anchor, with a SS screw through the back side. i had to drill out the smaller hole in the signal stalk spacer to allow this anchor to slide snugly in. i wanted to make sure there would be no rotating! i also used a small rubber gasket between the new bracket and the fairing housing, cut from a bicycle wheel spoke protector, only cost .69! yes i am cheap!

signal stalk re-mounted;

from the top;

notice the snug fit, but there is some "light" between the bracket and the stalk.

from the back side, showing the SS screw;

light mounted;

all done;

Nice job! I like to see a plan come together like that!

Do they help much in the dark though?

My Uly was not that clean the day I bought it.

Your mounts look great but will they last?

Etennuly;

thanks, haven't ridden with them yet, but the light given off is amazing in the backyard at least!!

Panhead_dan;

i just spent yesterday cleaning top to bottom!! used some great stuff on the black trim from Mother's, called Back to Black, works great on all colored plastic. as far as "will they last?", they feel damn solid, no movement whatsoever, seems like you could pick up the front of the bike with them! all SS hardware as well. time will tell i guess.

Those lights and a couple of other styles are available at Wally World. Price is about the same IIRC.
