Didn't think of it that way Andy...but actually the Thumper forum is very active, with a few people including me... that are very well versed on Blasts. |

i saw a diagram at one point which showed how to electricly remove rust from inside a rusted tank. it said it was reversing the natural rusting process. i have no idea where to find it again, but i do know there is a scientific way of doing this, not just shaking some foreign object in your tank for an afternoon and hoping you got it all. if you need to spend money to rebuild a motor, it is worth it to buy new tanks to ensure your not putting crap into it.
You're talking about using washing powder and a battery charger. And FYI, it works freaking fantastic! Requires a bit of thought as to your set up (what your un-rusting) but I kid you not, it works. |

I had a very severe problem with rust in a GS500 gas tank. I solved it by using muriatic acid to get rid of the rust first, then rinsed repeatedly with water to make sure it was all out. Then I used a blow dryer and a leaf blower to get the inside TOTALLY dry. Then used KBS gold standard tank liner. Waited the days for it to dry and cure and haven't looked back. Kinda a pain, but fixed the rust forever.

if you have never looked back, how do you know it is still good. i don't trust the liners. when they get old they can flake just like rust or paint. you want just clean metal in there. |
