Not yet sure How i feel about it. I sold the 2007 XB9sx. I just needed to go back to sportbikes (sorry guys!!!). I wish I could afford the keep the buell and the new bike. Any suggestions on what I should get? I REALLY would love an 1125R but they are a love you or hate you bike but i hate how it looks and I woudln't be able to afford the full fairing kit for it right away. Any suggestions on what I shoudl get guys? No 600's please. Any help would be really really appreciated.

The new R1's are sick if you're going back to a sportsbike.

Budget? Wants? Needs?

MV Augusta? SV650 with re-worked suspension? Used GSXR? New R1?

I always enjoyed having a 68 HP SV and SPANKING the squids on their litrebikes... but that is just me.

Stay away from Honda at all costs - Honda is SATAN - even using HIS colors... no coincidence!

I agree, the new CBR is the best bike out there right now, in my opinion: light, powerful, mean, looks good for a japanese...
the R1 is an hi-tech bike, but I don't like the new look!
I'd like to tell you Ducati but I don't know if you want to spend that money...
I have my 1098 S on sale for 16K right now, it's the hell of a deal for my bike!

I have a soft spot for Kawasaki. Not sure why exactly... I think it may stem from my fascination with the 250R back in the day. That ZX-14 is all kinds of ugly, but still cool in my book... much like a Uly.

Since when is a buell not a sports bike?

It's not a 100hp crotch rocket but its quick?

"Guessing" your criteria is as follows based on your statement that started this thread:
1) Price around $10 - $12k (guessing based on MSRP for an 1125R)
2) Sportbike
3) More than 600cc displacement

If that's all good, then I'd be looking at an 848 Duc, or a used 748 or 749. I've always been 'mildly' interested in the 'smaller' Duc's. They look really fun.

Or you could look for a 'full sized' used 916, 998 or 999.

That'll keep you out of the UJM 'cookie cutter' brigade at least.

Well i dont really consider the XB9sx a "sportsbike." In terms of needs and budget..my needs are fully faired japanese...preferably not a 600. The only one i wanted was the 675 and I testroad one and its SUPER uncomfortable for the street. I want a Used 750 or 1000cc bike, Japanese because I can't afford italian : (

Yamaha TW200 or 225 would be fun in the hood. ZX14 has a good top end off the showroom floor (187 mph). But you gotta make yourself happy.

I sat on the new CBR the other day. It looks awesome and felt light. I would guess it is right around 17 pounds. My scale is not calibrated very well. The silver and burgundy is sexy. The R1, gsxr 1000 and ZX-10 all felt alot bigger. It is nice going into a place that has all of them next to each other.

My XB12R is still faster because it is white. Too fast to add color.

Hmm I still think its a sports bike...

The XB9/12R is, no?

Your bike was basically the same thing just without a fairing and with taller bars.

But yes there are more race inspired bikes out there...

What is it your looking to get that the buell didnt have? Just more speed and the faired look?

I have a gorgeous R6 for sale but you dont want 600cc... Its a 2005 so more mid range power then a new 600... http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/mcy/1076933732.htm l

If i were the OP i'd seriously look at an XBr model.Air-cooled simplicity, adequate power, excellent handling.

I tried an XBs and found it super CRAMPED and didn't like the bars.

For Ducati, anything less than a liter class Superbike is less than a Buell in many ways.

And Jap is CRAP.

Triumph Daytona 675. Solid bike! Always gets high reviews. Though it runs with 600's...

+1 that's exactly the bike I was going to suggest or also the 1098 but I read the budget doesn't permit these bikes. You could also look at the superduke 990 they are not bringing it in 09 but a good use or left over will be nice and believe me that bike got lots of power, but if you absolutely want a full fared bike then it's out of considerations

There are some good deals out there on some low mile used Ducati 848's & 1098's..

If you can snag one before it goes to a dealership the cheaper..

Thank you for all the suggestions guys but I was mainly looking between these 3 bikes specifically...04/05 R1, 05 GSXR1000, or 06 GSXR750....i would KILL for a Duc 848 but budget doesn't allow it.

Ducati 1098
Aprillia Tuono
Triumph Daytona
Triumph Sprint ST

Those would be my picks if you go away from Buell.

Or you could pick any Jap I4. Sorry but they are all the same to me.

I went and sat on a triumph daytona 675 today. GORGEOUS bike but extremely aggressive seating doesn't seem very street friendly.

If you are dead set on getting a jap IL4 I would say go with the new R1 those things sound amazing and they are supposed to be torquey like a twin.

If you just want something other than a buell I would say go with a used aprillia, honda rc51, or Duc but then again I like twins.
