Just got Remus Revolution for my '03 XB9R... I'm wondering if I should install race ecm + race filter also, any experience on the forum?

My initial thought is that with db killers std ecm should work ok but if I run the exhaust w/o restrictors, also race ecm and free flow filter would be in order.

Samppa - you are in FINLAND WOW!!! Welcome here...

I don't know if there are many here with the Remus system. There were discussions some time ago (search showed some discussions in 2006 and 2007)

I would think that a change to the original race module sold for your bike would help with throttle response more than maximum horsepower... but the module for your bike has to be bought on the used market (Ebay?)

Since ECM Spy, other tuning systems just haven't been used - but the original "Race ECM" will certainly give you a little better performance.

Yep, it's gonna be couple of months before my next ride, we have snow & ice all over.

I scored a race ecm from ebay some time ago, so that's not a problem. I actually have a tfi box too... I think fueling for remus needs to be tuned like sebring twister or maybe d&d so I'd be interested to hear what ecms people use with those.

Have to get the cable for ecmspy asap, thanks for the hint.

No matter what pipe you get it is best that you get it remapped.

So race ecm isn't ok?

Any suggestions what base map to use and where to get it? I think a map for sebring twister or d&d would be a good starting point... Any other suggestions`?

I never said that. I said you should get a custom map made for your bike. The Race ECM is designed for the Race Kit. I am not sure who you would talk too in Finland.

I've been using the Remus on my XB9r for several years now. Its the older version (see trojan horse website)
I'm running it with the snorkel removed, with a K+N filter. My bike is used on the track and is run without the removable baffles. I have burned the race ecm data to my stock ecm using Ecmspy. I have upped the rev limit by 500rpm. I have not done a new dyno run since altering the ecm data but the bike runs better for sure. Let me know if you need any more details.
BTW the old remus pipe had a ground clearance problem which Remus addressed by providing me with a new modified pipe FOC - excellent service.

Thanks for the info. Since race ecm is working ok for you, I think I'll first try with race ecm + race filter and if I'm not happy, then start looking for custom maps.

Although I have the XB12 I also run the Remus Revolution, race ecm & K&N filter. Has worked a treat without any extra maps.

Yes - I played with the Race ECM when I was trying to find the right exhaust. Worked pretty well with the "Factory Race Exhaust."

When I bored it out, re-did the heads and cams and put on the Beson exhaust, I had to go with the full race module... and it cost me two days on the dyno.

In fairness the fully programmable (Kimball) ECM is NOT user friendly or in the least
little bit intuitive to use. DOS programs suck! Been there, done that.

ECMspy is worlds easier to navigate and a dyno operator that has some practice with the
system can certainly cut that 2 days on the dyno down dramatically.

The 2 day dyno thing was surely due to us having NO experience in the Kimball system when we first started with it 5 years ago.

With 2 oxy sensors and knowing what to anticipate on the dyno, it's not that bad... my problem was a total lack of experience - but I was lucky enough to get free dyno time back then because they (Bartels) were very interested in ALSO learning the system.

Yeah - 2 days is not necessary. I've helped out programming a couple ECMs for bikes that were already running - but back when we were first learning, my bike would just barely POP once or twice when it turned over - couldn't even keep it running by ANY tricks - until bumping the learned fuel (now global fuel) up almost 35% before it would even RUN (still wouldn't idle). Went round and round before we "discovered" that we needed to get the high pressure fuel regulator - after spending almost a full day TRYING to get it running. Once we got the fuel delivery pressure up, we could LOWER the fuel calls - and start tuning ALL OVER AGAIN.

Been a long, painful time learning the XBs, XBRR, 1125R.

It's nice to start with a bike that at least will start up and run!
