Well, thanks to HD, Buell, Matthew at customer service and Court, I now have the nice new Firebolt headlamps and I can see again. I may be the first in Japan. The recall hasn't come into effect here yet but a few persistent emails and everything was sorted- free of charge. Thanks to all involved. Another feather in the cap for Buell.

What's reason for the recall?

FBMA, don't be such a pessimist.

When I rode my Firebolt on the freeway a few nights ago, when it was a moonless, dark night, I was blown away by how effective the recalled lights worked:
-- The low beam cutoff was sharply delineated ahead and was properly positioned for about 60 mph, I'd say.
-- But, when I hit the high beam, the entire lane and its reflective limit dots were brightly lit up out to the horizon. This never happened with the original equipment.

This bike's headlights never worked so effectively, and I've had these new lights installed for about a year now.

I believe these recall headlights are properly designed and manufactured correctly to last a long time. Mucho kudos to Buell's Engineering staff for stepping up and getting the right stuff to their loyal customers.

Sparky, you are right about the low beam cutoff. I had never noticed that before, now Ive just got to get it positioned in the right spot. once again cheers to Buell
