Been to alot of rallys and a lot of patch carryers around. never a issue.one year at MB on the four lane in front of the hotel were the HA were staying I was sitting in traffic. and a yamaha was beside me a lady HE on the sidewalk said to me. We like your bike and not that rice! I said thank you and rode on.fellow up road was a 1% former pres.Couldnt ask for a nicer guy. One time one of my dogs and a stray killed some of his turkeys and genies. He came by and told me and I ask what it would take to make it right. He said $100 I gladly paid and all was fine.

Theodore Roosevelt said it best, "Speak softly and carry a big stick".

I'm never afraid of a barking dog, because I know he's there and can deal with him. It's the one that suddenly bites you on the a$$ without making a sound that you have to be concerned with.

I have a friend who was Army Special Forces, and if you ask him about it, he'll just tell you, "Ah, it's not a big deal". He's never said one thing about his missions, his training, his abilities (and this guys is built like a Sherman tank). I wouldn't want him to get mad at me, I can tell you that.

As far as the MC gangs are concerned, I've heard the stories, and seen the documentaries. But anytime I've ever actually SEEN one in person, they have pretty well minded their own business.

I'm not a meth dealer. I'm not a rival gang member. I'm not going to challenge him just because I think I'm a bad ass. I'm just going to leave him alone in hopes that he does the same to me.

My dad is a retired police capt. and was the sgt. of the MC division in AC, back in the day. His experience with MC's was that they weren't any different then the guys he worked with. They all rode at the rallies, they all did the toy runs, they all donated to charity and they all obeyed the law. Now that might just be in and around South Jersey, but none of the stories he ever told me about them were bad.

And about USMC, my brother was full enlistment for a number of years, then did 7 years in reserves. He's not a tank, but is one of the "quiet ones." You wouldn't tell from looking at him, but he used to work the barricade at the Electric Factory only for Slayer and Pantera type shows. Even after being out of service for a while he still has the mindset, and I couldn't imagine him being any other way.

i deal with a few clubs weekly. never have to much of a problem with them. when one particular club started frequenting my shop as they were trying to increase there numbers, some of them would come in with the "you owe me" attitude and that they were gods gift to my shop.

a few verbal go arounds and they came to the conclusion that i felt they were no better than joe blow off the street and that if they treated me with respect i would do the same to them, but they treat me like im some dumb$hit they are going to intimidate into giving them freebees and big discounts then they will be paying MORE than the average customer if they even get anything at all.

i feel no need to help someone that treats me like crap, and if i have to help them, im going to get paid damn well for it.

The quiet guys were the ones I kept a close eye on when I was in the USMC.

ive known that for a long time! usually the guy running his mouth is trying to intimidate you so he doesnt have to try and back it up.

my friends learned along time ago if im being lippy i am probably in a good mood. its when i dont have anything left to say, that they start worrying.

sitting at the bar and having a nice drink and not saying a word to anybody is more along my style. the gf says i dont discriminate, i just hate everyone until they prove me wrong.

but... once you get me talking and i decide i like you i might not shut up lol.

basically i was graced with the ability to talk my way into or out of most things (which i use to great advantages) and when i choose not to use that ability i am lucky that most people just leave me alone and leave while we are both ahead.

9m9knight: You can't "make RECON" out of boot camp. You'll finish basic training, attend SOI, then onto the fleet (if you are an infantryman), or your MOS school then the fleet. Force runs an indoc test several times a year. IF you pass the the indoc; you'll need to pass a psychological exam and then MAYBE you get a shot at Force. IF you get through the first set of testing; you'll have to pass jump school, dive school, SERE school, BRC, etc. If someone on the recruiting side told you there is a straight path to the Recon community, you have been sold a bill of goods. Marines are still the best people I know. Regardless of where you end up, it will be a worth while experience. There is no better "club" or "network" in the entire world.

I know all of this as my last tour on active duty was as a training company commander and H&S BN XO at SOI on Camp Pendleton.

Hells Angels: I haven't seen any of those guys since I lived in southern CA. The seemed to keep to themselves. In my brief experience; if you left them alone there were no troubles.

That's an accurate statement.

God created man but it was Sam Colt that made then equal. You will never be the toughest man in the room. No-one will. If you think you are all you will end up doing is proving or dis-proving it to some other like minded tough guy. All the while the quiet little nerd in the corner is trying to figure out wich one of you he is going to give his li'l 22cal. brain scrambler to.

All the tough guy talk reminds me of the MIT "unofficial" football team cheer (yes, they HAVE a team!)

quote:

It's only a game, don't make a fuss, a year from now, you'll work for US!

You all go on being your bad selves.

Masculine manly men, doing that masculine manly talk among manly men. OOOooooh, man-sweat and leather! I'm gettin all hot and bothered here!!!

Oh - I was dashing that off just before leaving work for the day.

I was trying to be smart-assed but didn't proofread well enough.

I'm in agreement about getting some adult supervision to a misguided young'un trying to be tough online - a few others trying to "out tough" him.

Glad we have some reality being added by legit representatives of the USMC

A friend of mine graduated first in his class from MIT in EE. Most quiet and unassuming guy you would ever want to meet.

He just retired after a long career designing systems to help missiles... shoot down missiles. Heck, I can't even spell that right, much less make one.

Kind of like being a sniper, but you have to shoot down the bad guys bullet after he shoots. And the bad guys bullet can turn.

Tricky business, that. I never heard the man brag about anything, aside from how good God had been to him, and how wonderful his wife, daughter, son in law, and grandkids are.

It's an example well followed...

The only way I could be any badder was if I had AIDS and bit people after I beat them !!!!! Thet's my new motto, beat-n-bite. Don't eff with me.

Just to keep on topic, roughly, of never underestimating people. The guidance system of those missiles, and cell phone tech, was designed by Hedy Lamarr, a film beauty of the '30s and '40s, and her neighbour. The tech was so far advanced that it couldn't really be used until the '60s.

Sometime last spring an 81 chatted with me a bit about my bike. He said that it looked like a lot of fun could be had with it. He finished the conversation by saying, "It's cute." I've never had any problems with them...guess they do their thing and I do mine.

9m9knight, you sure are an opinionated on something you have very little knowledge on to say the least. Nice to have the anonymity of the net to flex your testostorone here on Badweb but I think that is about the only chance you get to flex anything. Lots of cyberspunk and little else. Your young and it is expected, we have all been there at one point in our lives.

I'm no Angel nor a member of any other motorcycle club but I am a biker who readily supports the Hells Angels defence fund as well as other local motorcycle clubs when the opportunity arises. I have heard and read lots of negative stuff about members of 81, but all of the ones that I have met and talked to have always treated me friendly and with respect. I have found more comraderie and honesty among the so called "Big Red Machine" than one could ever expect to receive from those considered to be stalwards of society.

It goes without saying that some members of bike gangs are involved in criminal activity but that can be said about almost any gang.

Think and say whatever you choose, you have the safety blanket of anonymity to protect you. You also have the freedom of speach in which alot of those military angels fought for you to have.

Most, if not all, readers here readily know that face to face with a Hells Angel or any other real biker, you'd keep your pie hole shut.
