Chainsaw...Man, you have some real talent. That is a great logo! Not bad for a "Graphics Guy."

JerseyGuy...Thanks. Am thinking about putting the "Powered By" decal on each side of the battery cover on my X1. Will send you the measurements. Let me know the cost and we can get the deal done.

Brian, at this rate you guys are gonna have to build an official site for this thing, so that we can stop telling people to sort through this board to find out about it.

Xb9rski, I haven't tried doing the linking thing, but just do a search on this bulletin board for drummer and you'll see some posts from Buckinfubba tellin' all about it. Don't quote me, but I believe its around 350 for a exchange, on your current pipe, whereas if you just buy one outright its like 450. Either way it is highly recommended that you get the Buell race ECM and the Race Air Filter from Buell.

To All: thanks, I had an idea one day and ran with it.

Jersey: I do have a single color version of the logo. Us graphic guys think of everything ;) I do decals for 3R Racing here locally, they put their logo on valve covers (Porches, Corvettes, etc) I do not know how long the decals would last on an exhaust pipe. Email me at pduffey@signmaker.com with your physical address. I'll send you a 1 color version, no charge. You can be the guinea pig.

Bubba: Let me figure out some numbers on shirts, and 5"x2.25" decals. If there is a demand for Drummer Activewear, let's do something about it! I'll be in touch.

Again, if ya'll are interested in a decals or shirts with the aforementioned logo, post here and let us know. The more shirts, the cheaper. Decals can be made in short run. No obligation (yet) Stay tuned.

Bads1: Easy enough to change. Everything is just preliminary right now.

Nevco1- I have to check with the sign guy to see how he feels about the copyright infringement issue. There is probably a got damned lawyer getting a hard on already just for us talking about it.

I know nothing about that and I made them myself! If that is an Whoops, well...so be it.

Can always get around that issue with a misspelling. Something like "Hardley Ableson." That would be fun, eh?

On the serious side, if there is an issue, let me know. Thanks.

Just my .02 here..

As I understand the copyright infringement regs.. A one off, not for sale item for personal use should be immune to prosecution/law suit so long as the representation is accurate and proper. In addition, it can not be used is such as way to be considered libelous or inflammatory by the trademark holder.

If you were going to try and SELL something with the HD logo on it, without getting their approval and paying their licensing fees, your asking to have a Big Twin dropped on your head.. repeatedly.

Also, you might want to look into the possibility that the 'powered by' decal already exists, in which case you are stepping on their copyright.

As for the Drummer Logo thing. As soon as you have one(or five) chosen, protect them. Register them as your product/trade symbol. That way you can use it any time.. (do check with some legal eagles since this pipe was once a Buell design and Erik or some of his people, may take offense) However, I'm sure that for some odd reason, Buell knows about the pipe and has not sent you a desist letter.. tacit approval of your work and by renaming it, you are in fact stating that it is no longer a Buell/H-D product.

Phew.. that's it.. I need a drink after all that..

Later,

Blublak...That is the way it was explained to me as well. Local artist (Milwaukee area) was doing HD bikes and inquired about the copyright thing.

HD sent him a letter that said as long as it was one off for the owner (wonder if that means anyone that commissioned a painting to be done whether they owned a bike or not) and not for reproduction, it was ok. If he decided to sell reproductions, he discovered the licensing fees would kill him at least until his sales volume picked up.

All we sell pipe wise is "reconditioned" pipes....nuthing but labor is all we sell our laborer last name is drum and the labor code is drummer. hence the name!

all those stock pipes need recondtioned atleast "once". its not in the literature but upon further testing by outside sources we found it to be needed. seems to work much better after it is reconditioned!

must be cleaner airflow. I wouldn't know!!

Now get on your bad motorscooter and ride

We received your pipe today. Kevin says it will take some work to get those dents cleaned up but he can "recondition it" just fine he says. It will just take a lil longer than usual.

as far as the paint thing. he says "well send me the stencil you want and I'll do it. for an extra $10.

How about putting a fluttering 'Ol Glory behind the Drummer Logo as opposed to Chainsaw's Bars& Stars design? Then it represents everything the Drummer represents! Just a thought from another transplanted mid-westerner.

Brian,
10 bucks!?! It costs that much to clean up the gun when you're finished - not that I'm complaining.

Chainsaw,
Can I get you to cut me a stencil? I'd be happy to pay ya for your efforts. Now we just need to pick a font.

Brian,
One color is what I'm after. The silver color of the frame will be fine. It will just be the letters "Drummer". I like to keep it simple. I will get the stencils made. I still like chainsaw's graphic for a shirt though.
