I have a friend who owns a machine shop with a cnc machine. He's going to make me and a mutual friend a upper triple clamp for a firebolt. Does anyone have any suggestions besides it being raised and pulled back towards the tank? Once the machinist gets the blueprint done with the software I will post it to see if anybody body else is interested. | ||

Kinda like Helibars... I'd be interested if you did a plain upper triple... clipons are easy to fix if you drop bike..  | ||

Suggestion: provide for handlebar options; like space to mount tubular handlebar clamps (sized to fit OEM XB-S clamps?). OT: Does upper triple clamp break, or does the 1/2-handlebar tube bend when an XB-R hits the ground hard? | ||

i guess how big the stack is, but i cant see either 'breaking' in a minor crash. if it was big enough the break the bar you'd have more things to worry about than a broken bar. i came off at phillip island last time i went there and i still had the stock plastic bar ends. all it did was wear through the bar end instantly (the plastic is completely useless lol) and ground down the end of the bar on a 45 degree angle, this wrecked the grip and broke the end of the throttle tube too. it was still rideable except for the missing brake lever.... | ||

I laid my bike 12R down a few years ago pretty hard on its left side TWICE. Both times it just bent the handle bar, and those are a cheap easy fix. | ||

The bars can bend in a good fall, but this probably saves the triple clamp, and the bars seem to bend and not break. The triple clamps are pretty strong. A few friends have had would-be thieves try to smash and cut the switch and steering lock out of them. They did a lot of damage but gave up in the end. | ||

BTW I like the look of what you have done. I like the bars right back against the forks. The Helibar position is good for me. It would be nice to have them reversible so that you could just flip them and have them higher or lower. Trouble is that in the low position the bars would contact the frame. Like has been said above, reusing the stock bars in the triple clamp like Heli have is good. This is how Heli did the bars, before the stopped making them.  | ||
