Brion, I just read about your plug fouling statement. It sounds like your jetting is to rich. I ran stock Buell plugs and wires and never had any fouling. My bike at that time was making 100hp at the wheel at that time. Do you know what jets you are running? What ignition module do you have on it also? If I am asking questions that you have all ready stated, sorry. I have not seen it. Lets get back on track. Here to help.

Brion, I had my heads ported by a local that did lots of race cars. He said he didn't do bikes so don't be telling any one. He did it as a favor because he had built a couple motors for me. This was the first time he had ported Buell Thunderstorm heads. We shaved 20th off the heads also. The bike was totally reliable. Ran on pump gas just fine. I ran stock valves and cams. I ran a 42 mikuni. dyna 2000 ignition and single fire set up. Advanced the timing a couple degrees, stock plugs and wires. West tech exhaust. Don't for get to port the intake also. Don't waste your time polishing. Thats old tech. Modern tech has proven it really doesn't work well. The bike made 100 rwh.

Wes from Cycle-Rama, ported some Thunderstorm heads and had some pistons made(stock displacement) for Aaron Wilson at Nallin Racing Head Service and 120+ RWHP was realized with pump gas and of course some dyno tuning by Aaron. You are welcome to check out the dyno chart www.cycle-rama.com in the dyno chart section. I think it is about the 3rd chart down. N83 Andrews cams and HSR45 Mikuni Carb with a standard Force exhaust off my own bike.
The last chart on that page is from a dragracer that came into my shop with a Nallin Racing Stage III 1250 kit on his S1. He was making about 94RWHP. Wes re-ported the heads added a better set of cams and installed a new set of rings(since the heads were off) and the result(122.4) is what you see on our site at www.cycle-rama.com. I believe it says a 1049 kit though. (Our web master doesn't know alot about bikes)

Pammy, shoulda avoided all that work & just went with the Nology wires, the intake turbolator, & some fuel line magnets & would have seen pretty close to the same 120hp:D

We don't promote anything just for money. If it don't work, we don't sell it. But of course, this being America and all, everyone is entitled to use whatever they desire to get from point A to point B. Please excuse the kinder, yet gentler Pammy as she must get some sleep.....

KCBill,

My bike is fuel injected. I believe the problem started when I installed the PCIII which does not control the fuel/air ratio until 1500r/min. But the other gains I got from the PCIII were worth changing my plugs now and then. Since I put the infamous wires on my bike it is OK anyway. Just a note about what everyone is saying about the Nology wires there is a warning that comes with the wires about electronically controled engines to use resistor plugs, but I have not.

Thanks,

To everyone for accepting my posts with such enthusiasim over the Thanksgiving holidays. You guys who responded with good information and source links I appreciate it and am following up on some of them. If any of my posts have helped anyone with any of there issues I am glad. However, I personally will return to my former state of membership at this site (invisible), since it takes too much time sorting through the bullshit and antagonism to reply to someone that has something of value to add.

Brion, don't bother sorting...do what I do, just post and it'll be sorted for you.

Keep us posted on your adventure in porting.
