Man, first it was just inspection plate rivets. Now my license plate frame... what else can I expect to shear off from the vibration....

Hey, it was worse on my Blast. One day I got home from a 100+ mile ride and found the Blast horn dangling from its wire. The bracket just broke in two from vibbbBbbrrations.

So far nothing has fallen off my XB9S, but I do occasionally go over the thing and check various fittings.

Do you ride in lower, mid, or upper rpm's most of the time?

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the time I was rounding a corner on the Blast and the left mirror fatigued and fell off, hitting my arm and then the road.

Ever tried riding w/o a left mirror? :O

I heard something clang behind me at an intersection the other day...looked back and saw a screwdriver laying in the turn lane... that did not come outta my Buell...that did not come outta my Buell

I'm too worried about what is in front of me to look in the mirrors anyway....

When I do, it scares me...cars behind me are jumping up and down like they are possessed or some kinda shit .

I don't understand why the cars in front of me don't ever jump around ... I guess they don't like to be behind a Buell or somethin...

Forgot to mention my left mirror fell off at around 2500 miles too.The rubber boot he;d it just enough to balance on my hand until i could get off the bridge to fully pull it off...Other than the mirrors what else should I keep an eye on?

Left/front turn signal vibrated off, thought I was the balls for a day down in Daytona for bike week, got lots of looks and finger pointing at my 9R as my signal dangled by the wires.

Wonder what they were actually pointing at.

Hey... it is part of the tradition of owning a Buell... having sh*t fall off... I did not feel a part of it until my first "problem". That is why we ride in groups... to take turns watching for things falling off!!!

Seriously... it is the nature of metal fatigue due to vibration... it will loosen things... break welds... tax any thing with 90 degree machined corners. Vibration WILL break something. It is part of the deal with ANY motorcycle.

Interesting thing about the mirror fatigue on my Blast - the left mirror was newer than the right, having been replaced after a high-side. The new left mirror was installed by the mechanic and fastened VERY tightly. The right mirror wasn't torqued that much.

Not being an engineer, I can only speculate that the "overly" tightened mirror focused the vibration on the point of fastening (which fatigued) while the right mirror transferred more of the vibrational energy to the whole stalk.

Talking about mirror jump... I looked in my right hand mirror the other day on my 12R and say a yellow SUV in the right lane with ANOTHER YELLOW SUV TRYING TO PASS ON THE SHOULDER!!!

Oh, wait... it's just one SUV :). For a second I though they were out to get me.
