I'm thinking of putting a Jardine exhaust on my XB12... Anyone have one on theirs? How's it sound? Ride? Are the slip ons easy to install? I didn't fine a forum in the knowledge vault so I'm askin here. | ||

You'll lose torque and horsepower with a Jardine. Its basically a straight thru muffler and doesn't provide enough back pressure. D&D or Drummer are your best bet. Unless you only want it to be louder, Jardine is by far the loudest pipe for your XB. | ||

+1 A few more bits of knowledge. jardine is very lite. IIRC, the lightest option. also known to fall apart. | ||

Well I can say I don't want to loose power so that gets me thinking. Does the drummer or D&D have slip on options? If so what kind of cost are we talking about? | ||

All the pipes except for Micron, Ti Force and maybe one other are all slip on. The Jardine is one of the cheapest, but you get what you pay for. Special ops is good, and about $250. | ||

drummer and d&d are both slip on... check out the exhaust shootout on americansportbike.com. the special ops is pretty goo too i hear(also a slip-on) ps i have a D&D and its pretty loud. also my butt dyno says that it gave me a gain in midrange power. | ||

Hmmm... So many options. It seems to boil down to cost. Since they don't have ECM for the 09's would that jack me up? | ||

It depends what your looking for. The Jardine is a great top end pipe, better for the track. The D&D and the Drummer have great midrange, better for the street. Checkout American Sportbike, and click on the exhaust shootout link. Lots of great info there. Schmitty | ||

Try Odie at Spec Ops. He mods the pipe but leaves the interactive valve operating so you get a better sound, more power and no midrange torque hole. Also ends up a little lighter as well with the exhaust retaining the stock mounts and able to use the stock jack points for serviceing. (Message edited by Bombardier on October 17, 2008) | ||

I have the Jardine, I noticed a loss in the initial snap in torque from not having the butterfly valve. Though it seems to have better mid/high revs. Overall I'm more happy with the sound and weight loss. | ||

I also have the Jardine. It weighs probably half of what the stock weighs. The only noticeable power loss for me was right between 4k and 4.5k rpms. It seems like the front tire likes to come up alot more now. It pulls real strong after 4.5k. | ||

With the mass amounts of torque our twins have, +/- 5lbs seems like it' be the last of our concerns. The Jardine sounds good but that's about it. I've heard D&D causes idle issues and/or slumps in acceleration if not retuned. Micron and Ti Force will cost an arm and a leg but are good pipes from what i hear. Drummer and special ops are great pipes...drummer is a lower cannon-like tone in which the ops is more "tingy". I have a drummer and I didn't notice any loss in low-end torque but did notice a nice gain in the mid-range. Sound and performance is awesome, and price and looks is fair as well. There was no need to return my stock ECM and I've had no issues after 4K miles! Let me spare you the headaches of doing the research, I looked for months - GET A DRUMMER! Good luck | ||

I think the Drummer's more quiet at idle but when cracked I think they're probably the same. Don't get me wrong, the drummer is NOT quiet in any way but is quieter than some other pipes (jardine & D&D) | ||

My Jardine is loud as hell. Like wake up my yuppy neighbors loud. But I LOVE it. Would love a Micron but don't got the cash right now. I defintley noticed more mid and top from stock to Jardine. The sound is crazy though. It sounds like a loud, obnoxious Harley with the Jardine, and thtas on my XB9R. | ||

You can buy the insert for the Jardine and quiet things down a bit. It also aids in back pressure since the Jardine is straight through. I made one myself and opened up the hole diameter until it performed and sounded the way I wanted. | ||

The insert goes in the end of the pipe. There is a hole in the side of the tip. If there is something attached through the hole, then I believe you have the quiet insert. | ||

I have a race ECM and modified fuel maps now but when I first put it on everything was stock. The lack back pressure w/o the insert made the power band pretty weird. With the insert it acted more like the stock but still had some popping on decel. | ||

To be honest, I wasn't really looking for more power as much as I was looking for some sound. With the stock muffler it sounds like a farm tractor! I really don't know if it makes more or less power because I've never had it on a dyno. | ||

It's hard to get rid of that dip with either pipe or ecm. Probably take a lot playing with the fuel maps and timing. (Message edited by brakes2late on October 23, 2008) | ||

The sound is why I put the jardine on also. I ride an 08, so I guess I will have to live with the dip. It definitely sounds good now. People move out of the way in traffic instead of cutting me off now. | ||
