I know it has already been talking about bigger oil cooler and right scoop but i didn't find anything that could help me with my decision. I would like to buy that 19 raw oil cooler but i don't know how much would it help or how much better is than the stock one - if it is. Can anybody help me if it's worth to buy it or not. My ventilator is on almost all the time.

Oil temp rarely goes above 160f on my 07 XB12. I too had thought about getting a larger cooler, but now realize its not needed.

Well i know that actually i don't need bigger oil cooler (bike sure works with the stock one) but i would like my ventilator would come on less often. And i don't know how much would bigger oil cooler help.

Has anyone tried fitting the 2008 oil coolers to the older bikes?

Got a right side scoop also which seems to lessen the fan's operation and the duration of operation once turned on. Front cyl runs about 25-50 degrees cooler than the rear but the addition of the scoop seemed to help, at least with the fan.

Thanks for the answers but i still wonder how much would bigger oil cooler help. There are a lot of traffic lights (which are always red) and so on, when the bike isn't moving, the fan goes on everytime, even on a slow ride.

One of the issues with retrofitting the 08+ oil cooler is that the oil pump isn't beefy enough for it. I am assuming you would have the same issue with the one in that link.

Did anybody try to contact them. I wrote them two e-mails and still no answer. I really want some more informations because if it makes oil any cooler i would love to take it and have it on my buell.

Is your oil over-heating?
If your oil doesn't get hot enough to boil the condensation out, it'll not be good for the bike.

My oil is full of bubbles and it is boiling. Unfortunately i don't have Oil Temperature guage to measure the temperature.
Is the stock pump really so weak?

For motor oil to boil it has to be around 500o Fahrenheit. I doubt your oil is boiling.

Believer, your oil is full of condensation. Milky white edges on the bubbles, right?

I've always liked that scoop, but not for the cooler. I just think the scoop looks awesome!

I think that what you're seeing is some foaming/frothing of the oil as it's dumped back into the oil reservoir from the oil pump. Very unusual for the oil in Buells/Sportsters to get much over 230 degrees in the reservoir even in hot ambient temperatures. Even crappy petrol based oil won't boil until it gets way over 300 degrees F if I remember correctly.

Pretty sure you'd be cracking major components if your oil got to boiling temp...not the least of which would be your nuts.

On my 06 SS the oil temp is typically a little over 180F according to the dipstick thermometer.

First tanks for all your answers.
So you think bigger oil cooler is bad decision. Guess the only thing i can do is to get right scoop?
But in what condition would you install bigger oil cooler?

Maybe if you race and you have a beefy oil pump and full body work

Yes Mike i have 08 motor. why?

I got the answer about 19raw oil cooler. The stock pump is strong enough (his bike runs almost a year now and it's still in good condition),
the bike is running smooter,
the fan comes on less often.
The oil viscosity can stay 15/50.

I think i'm getting one for myself. Just waiting that he will send me some more spec for it, and then i'll decide.

The Kompo Tech 19 row oil cooler (they also do a 13 row I believe) is designed more for race use with the fan removed than for road. To fit it you WILL have to grind off the original oil cooler mounts.

The design of the scoop with this cooler is exactly the same as used by the Hal's race XB's and is more for use with a full fairing than without.

If you are planning to race, get one. If not, it probably isn't worth doing as the original cooler does a good enough job.
