Ralph You are a friggin celebrity , atleast today you are. Thanks for giving us a shot, an unknown pipe and your hard earned dough. I am very grateful for your guts to pull the trigger on this. I am very glad that you like it. You are right the people at buell did their homework, I never once thought we would see great gains over the stock pipe it works great. All I wanted was to keep the smooth powerband that it had because that is what makes it cool. I must say that the real credit goes to Kevin Drum tho. It was my Idea but it was his brains and knowledge of pipes that made this work. Kinda like the xb I gave him peramiters to work with. I said I don't care about top end numbers, I want smooth street power period. and since we were doing this on a 9 I said lets keep the 12 in our head while we do this. Kevin is the man, I am just the dancing monkey with a good Idea every now and then. Again thanks for giving us a shot without knowing exactly what you were gonna get. Brian and Kevin, thanks for your hard work!! I meant no disrespect that Erik and the Buell engineers had done their homework because you guys surpassed that!! Granted some of the constaints they have to live with, you did not have to worry about but for a couple of guys to decide to put their heads together and just do it; plus be successful is outstanding! Brian, Kevin and everyone else, After about 100+ miles here's what I've found... 1. The pipe has gotten louder but is still very easy to live with, actually sounds better. 2. Starting to get a little pop on decelaration but nothing negitive. 3. I'm going to have the tps and idle adjustments checked the first of the week as the bike now needs a little throttle to keep it idling until it's warmed up. SPIKE, Slide up to October 15th posts, those dyno charts are from my bike. There are comments from me posted below the charts as well. I'm very pleased with the performance and the sound after a little over 100 miles on the pipe with the race ecm and filter upgrade. Thanks for that info... I'll inquire about the idle adjustment which I think is hidden under the airbox somewhere, but can be accessed at the front of the bike. Gearhead/Ralph | ||

ralph, I know on my X1 I would have to adjust the idle up a bit for the cold weather. | ||

About the The TPS. I would like to install the Drummer, ECM, and air kit myself. 12 bikes later and have really never had any of my bikes in a shop other than my own. I don't have a manual yet. I assume the service shop has to do this adjustment?? I'm not real sure how receptive they are going to be on the whole idea of this type of working relationship. | ||

You can install all of that stuff yourself. But beg borrow or steal a manual for removing the idler pulley to allow an easier time with the muffler. You will need to see the dealer to have the TPS zeroed out once the ecm is installed tho. | ||

Dyna, what sort of equipment are they using to zero the tps, computers and leads everywhere, or something simpler like a DMM connected to the right places? Just interested as I calibrate some electronic equipment at work. Like what are they zeroing it against? Curious. | ||

spike call me...... ralph just adjust the Idle a lil. whats happening is the computer has finally adj. it self to the pipe. and how it is affecting combustion. At Idel the xbs read off the o2 sensor. warm your bike up to temp then adj. the "Iowa farm mafia" rocks | ||

Fuzz you can do that stuff yourself if you want to. and then take it to your dealer to get the tps set. They should be ok with it and it should only be around $15 to $20 bucks to do it. opto unless you know all the measurement and numbers you can't do it. we use the digital tech to do this. it don't cost much so go to your dealer.... | ||

TinyT, The internals of the Drummer are no longer stock, completely different power curve and a very different tone. What they have done to the stock muffler in that example on geocities is essentially turned it into a straight pipe, with all its advantages and disadvantages. | ||

tinytim Awhole world of difference. If we had sipmly took a dremel tool and cut. everybody and anybody would do it. What has amazed me since we came out with the drummer is the fact that because 2 guys made it instead of some company. Everyone thinks it is cheap or simple. Trust me on this ...IT FLAT OUT WORKS BETTER THAN EVERYTHING ELSE OUT THERE, THAT IS THIS AFFORDABLE, PERIOD END OF DISCUSSION. I wish someone would do better then we all would have a better pipe. But it is sad that companys rest on their collective asses thinking people will buy a name brand just because of the name. What matters is this, we made a really good pipe and could charge more for it because our numbers are better, but we didn't because we are customers also. We are not out to get rich because we won't. we wanted to in a wierd way to kick the asses of the so called experts and maybe make them work a little harder. More than likely they won't so.....your stuck with us for now. A hillbilly and a yankee working to make a funner ride. I'd say we accomplished it. | ||

Brian, I am very interested in the pipe, but I have a dilema. I have dented my stock pipe (once going off of a curb that I didn't see until it was too late and once going into a drive way with a heavier passenger on the back) and was wondering if you would still modify it for me. I know you couldn't just send me a new one and use mine for the next customer. Also, how long would the turn around be for that situation. Thanks, Morgan | ||

Ok I have a different situation. Got the stock one left over in a box but would like my same one back. But I am in no rush so I can wait till you get ready to fabricate the next batch. Also I would like you guys to make up a signature plate that gets pop rivetted on the side of the can. | ||
