...............nope!

found more damage. this time its on the swingarm where the axle sliders are. looks like they tried to pry them off, so now there's nics and scratches all around the axle sliders on the swingarm. yay.

why would they take the rear tire off to do an engine rotation? i ask because the dealer is saying that they didn't take the rear wheel off, but i know they did because the sliders are damaged and not in the same position as they were when i dropped it off.

What happened to your bike to where it needed work in the first place?

Sucks for your misfortune.

Maybe they took the rear tire off to take the belt off the front pulley.

Don't you have lemon laws in your state?

You and a lawyer should be talking with the store and Buell.

O_o

...I'd be having some very serious talks with this dealership about compensation. This is beyond ridiculous.

here's the short version of the story:

I took the bike in for rocker box leaks and turn signals not working. Went to pick it up, throttle cables routed wrong, finish on the frame had white haze all over it, wire harness patch job was not acceptable on a 3 month old bike. Left it for them to fix.
Went back, frame halfway cleaned, throttle cables still wrong, primary cover and left footpeg bracket damaged during engine rotation.

Took it home to inspect, codes thrown during that weekend. Made them pick the bike up this time(45min trip one way), 3.5 weeks later they say its ready....

third attempt to pick up the bike is the topic is this thread.

Question:
anyone know why they would take the wheel off though? I NEED SOME AMMO for when I go to fight this battle. they're already looking in the service manual saying it doesn't call for the wheel to be removed.... this damage was done the first time they worked on it, but i haven't noticed until yesterday when i went to pick it up.

The service manual states to remove the rear belt (is there any front belt I missed?) and idler pulley before engine rotation. (Seems totally impossible to me to rotate the egine with belt remaining in place.) The belt could be removed after dismounting the idler pulley, but I'm not sure if this is still possible with the new belt type. So it might be they wanted to losen the rear axle to lower the tension applied to the belt.

Regards,
Gunter

....so after a heated debate over the phone and a trip to the dealer shortly afterwards for an even more heated debate, they're sending my bike to be fixed at another dealer! Can you believe it?

They're replacing the swingarm because of the half-a$$ work they've done to the bike the past 2 months but the new dealer is going to perform the work at the old dealer's tab. Crazy, huh?

they would only send it tilleys. they did mention thunder tower, but they expected me to take the bike there. i felt like they should transport the bike back and forth because these are all problems caused by them, not me. i at least got them to take it to tilley's but they won't bring it back, so i still have to go out of my way for their mistakes....

I really hate to hear that.I was up in Gastonia Monday and stopped in to see about 10k service. They said they were about a week and half behind. The price quoted was about $260.I thought the fork oil had to be changed but a "tech" said they bumped it up to 20k before changing out the oil. They did have a set of Traction grips to my disbelief since I have been stopping in for a while trying to scoop a pair up.I did take my bike up there for the 1k service. Thanks for the heads up.Shim I sent you a pm.

Carolina is a good place to do business and has been for many years. It was a toss-up between them and Tilley's for years -- that's no longer the case.

It could be a moot point with the passing of Click. We'll see.

.....i've had nothing but trouble with carolina. i couldn't even buy my bike there because they kept pushing other bikes that i ididn't want on me. They didn't take me seriously about buying, so I bought elsewhere. Shelton's in durham, nc has my vote.

I had a similar service experience with gastonia 2 years ago with my blast but heard they'd come around since then. Obviously not.
