"Now for the SMACK!!! If your 700 doesn't have some serious internal engine work it doesn't have a prayer."

Obviously you have yet to download the image of my RX-1. C'mon up to my lake home in Land O Lakes this winter. Please bring a bib. I hate cleaning up drool off my garage floor.

Your nephew is running an RX that LOOKS like mine only.

Sure about that John. Your sled isn't built I can see that just from the exhaust alone. Not only that it won't get out of the hole very well sitting as high as it is. The only thing you could have is a turbo??? If so you could run me on a long run but still not in a short run. Sure you know what kind of Cat your running against??

And yours is looking pretty old and rusty, I see nada there that's gonna scare me. What is that? a 97-98?

Life with sleds isn't about 1/4 miles...its about wide open lakes with runs in the miles. You'd have a chance with a ZR900 or F1000 IF my sled was stock, but not with that my friend. Uh uh.

IF you can get past my buddy's 146hp Vmax, which I doubt, then you can listen to the WHRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR of mine.

Winter is coming!!

Looks like I'm not going to be dealing with much snow running up the coast, and it looks as if my tires are well-suited to rain

IT'S ON!!

John not rusty at all.Its got only 2900 miles on it.LOL Your sled is not studded in that pick it is not set up for anything but wide open and ya still haven't said whats done. My nephew has your sled and unless you have a turbo you don't have a chance. Ya better look up on the specs of the 800 triples. Then look up Hooper racing. Then we'll talk. Till then ya ain't shit.

Your nephew, for the second time, does not have this sled. By the looks of the front suspension on yours, you should think of sticking to straight 1/4's maybe.

Studs and new skis (a must for the RX due to the stockers being severe walkers) have already been added, but you don't need to worry about that....you need to worry about the WHRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

Oh, your little 8 isn't a worry for me. Again. I highly doubt your machine is putting out more than 140hp...which is far from a worry for my Yami. If you need some CPR for a Yami, I know a guy.

Talk is talk I guess.

Talk is talk exactly John. You still haven't disclosed what has done to your sled. It appears stock. Bring it home one weekend and we shall see. Don't say little 8. Try 1000 hooper motor. Clutch were done by Goodwin performance and D&D pipes exiting out the stock muffler,192 studs and v force 3 reeds. Stock air box slightly mod. I used to race years ago Ski-Doos on the ice in Improved stock class in the 800 class. Your sled without a turbo isn't a worry to me. You have a very nice machine and trail wise its awesome.... I know have ridden one. Very reliable to. But in the drags the way your sled sits (stance)it won't get out of the hole.

Oh and John just so you realize a stock ZRT 800 put out 150 hp stock heres the link and scroll down to the zrt section.

http://www.motorsports-network.com/arctcat/smb98.h tm

And here is a link to Hooper racing. They don't do the 1000 kit anylonger but do a trail kit 1100. That puts out about 205 HP. My sled has not been on a Dyno. But to make a fare guess it'll put down 170-175 without a doubt. So to end this stupid talk see ya on Tichigan this January or so. Hope to still have it but have been tinkering with selling it. Some guy wants it now but wants me to deliver it in Sept to MN. to the Hay Days grass drag nationals but I can't do it.

This is pointless until the snow flys.

Manufacture HP ratings are as accurate as a Wisconsin weatherman's forecast.

i raced plenty of rx-1's.

i had a 96 zrt 800, 98 zrt 800 and an 01 thundercat(which is still the fastest production sled made even though they quit in 02)

you couldnt pull up to a bar on the lake without someone wanting to race since they were the kings of the snow.

they shamed a bunch of sleds. i expected alot more out of the big boy yamaha. i was severly disappointed when we raced and so where there owners.

and i guarantee i can out trail run most people on one of those also. people say they are a lake racer only and not good for much else. you know how much fun it is to shove one of those trail sleds through a corner with a big bellering piped triple because they wont get out of the way!

My old Mach Z John was 152 hp Stock and Goodwin did the clutch and dyno tuned that one back in 95 for crumbs sake did 140 bone stock other then clutch. To be honest snowmobiles are not to far off.

I knew you would chime in Tim. John I'm not picking on your sled. They awesome.... just those old Triples from all the brands are just frigg'n fast with little done. Mine is just a top end, pipes and clutch. 1500 to 2000 grand get you 200hp.

Funny I remember when I just got my 95 Mach Z back from Goodwins and went up North for some fun. John you will know this place.... The Thirsty Whale. I dragged some guy on a 89 Indy 650 for only 20 bucks but he won. He won by 15 sled lengths. He had a Genisus motor. Didn't sound like much but it kicked the crap out of me. I'll never forget that. I got laughed at back at the bar. The guy was a local and was taking money from guys like me for years.lol

Nobody is arguing that the 03 RX wasn't beatable by stock 800's, 900's and 1000's. The power to weight wasn't there, even though the instan throttle response of an RX was greater than any of those, and I rode them all. Yami completely lied about the weight of that sled, that added to the stock skiis and overheating issues made it troublesome for many owners.

I am arguing that you won't touch my RX-1 which is not stock. But that's what the web is for I guess.

"The Thirsty Whale"

Its still there. Great place. CruiserFest is in February, right outside The Whale. We hit that every year.

Funny thing about sleds, they all sound and look stock with the motors off.

on top of reworked heads, mbrp silencer, a few hundered spikes and some regearing my thunder cat had this funny little silver tank in the back cubby hole...

one of my zrt 800's was done up with all the 600 decals and seat. i even took a dremel to the heads and turned the 800 into 600's. now unless you knew it was wrong youd never notice. the zrt 800's said 800 on each head, but the zrt 600's were supposed to say zrt instead. it was a nice sleeper!

i could never get myself to change the thundercat over i liked its looks better then the 600 decals.

unlike the old days, there arent to many bad sleds anymore. i prefer my cats but i'll ride with almost anyones. just like on my buells!

No there isn't too many bad ones. Sleds have become like bikes. A different kind for every different use.

No doubt Tim. Mine runs on the stock muffler and rejetted a bit because the Stingers are just way to loud. I wish I had the Stingers anyways just for some fun. John your sled is stock until stated what you have done and sound like you know what your talking about. Turbo??? Built??? I doubt built from that pic posted. I will gladly put my tail between my legs if I feel I'm beat. I've been around sleds a good portion of my life. Only once I got beat my a totasl sleep. Been beat by better riders, been beat by more HP and knowing it. You already said that I better have more then 140 HP to compete. I have that stock. Which I'm not and told you what the prior owner had done to this machine. I'm guessing 170-175. Clutch is set around 5500 rpm's right now to ingage. Come on man I feel like I'm dealing with untruth here.

Man...I was expecting a thread about tires on a Uly, or a trip to Alaska, windy road mountain pass...then thought "I've been off this part of the forum too long! missed another new Buell model! Turbo! RX! oh, they're not talking about bikes".
I may be moving to Maine next year and then I will recognize snowmobile-speak! not in Arkansas though.

Alright...I'll give it to yah Bad...if you have a Hooper engine and all you got me...after a quarter mile! I'll give yah hell up to then but you will certainly blow my doors off. Not sure about that RX-1...they seem very heavy to me....even with some WRRRRR! I am one of those trail riders...not many lakes here.

Phoi...I apologize for my part in the thread hi-jack. Guys, if we want to talk this jazz, start a new thread and leave this one for its intent. Just my .02.

"Not sure about that RX-1...they seem very heavy to me"

The 03 weighed about 550lbs, mine weighs about 525. I'm about 25-60lbs lighter than an average rider. I'm at least 40lb lighter than Dana. Thus to me, weight isn't an issue. Also handling in the earlier RX's was poor, thus making them seem alot more heavier than they were. Ride an 06 RX or a current Apex. You'll love it.

The Turbo or Supercharger is the only way to run this thing. And it's not that expensive to do.... Or so I'm told.
