so I had a loaner when my fork seals were getting fixed, I parked it and went to lock the steering head, went one turn past (the parking light thing) and I noticed a light come on in the front of the bike..?? I looked and there is a third light bulb inbetween the head lights that comes on. it was a dim greenish color.
I checked mine and some others at the dealer and they had the socket but no bulb. I never noticed that, maybe others have and I just wasn't paying attention. maybe I just need another beer.

That is accurate information.

I *think* all Buells have it.

It is required in some countires.

When the key is in the "park" (not, LOCK, but PARK) position, the 15W (someone correct me please) in the front and the low filiment in the taillight come on.

That's not precisely right, but it's a close as I can do from here in the car w/o my books.

My 99 X1 has one. The bulb burned out though and I don't care enough to fix it.

Speaks volumes of your reduced propensity to yield to hypertension.

Congratulations from those of us who carry spares.

When I put my key in the park position, the steering locks, the little light between the headlamps come, on as well as the tail light.

it is a parking lamp. a auto motive wedge base bulb# 194 will fit. also is illuminated with ignition "on". will lend a dim glow to non operative headlamp.

That's part of the battery drainer package. It's mean to drain your batttery when you accidently leave it in park instead of off...oops
