Hey All, I just moved and am in need of a good cover for the XBR. It gets pretty windy at home too so I'd like to get a sturdy cover that wont rip or scratch my bike due to wind. Any suggestions? Gregg | ||

Funny enough, I use my FZ6 cover on my Buell. I have one of these Buell covers, works great and folds up fairly small. Can't put it on though while the pipes are hot, because you will burn holes in it. Please dont ask me how I know this. | ||

If that fortress cover is made from the same material as my Firebolt's 'city cover', it's just fine for 'normal' outdoor use. I wouldn't want to leave it out all winter, but it'll keep the sun and birdshit off the bike. They are not waterproof, but outside of a torrential downpour the rider seat still won't get wet. -=shrugs=- The full cover I have for my Blast from back when I lived in an apartment will actually cover the Firebolt for the most part, and is a very heavy nylon. | ||

I have a gezagear cover that I use on the rare occasions that I need it. It is even rated for use on an open trailer up to 70mph IIRC. They are a bit expensive, but they are top notch. | ||

OK - my take on a cover for high winds: take it off if the weather gets stormy! My first ever Buell crash happened WITHOUT ME!!! Left the bike covered in the parking lot and we had a summer storm come through and blow it over. Now, the open bottom of the cover was acting like a sand/rain intake, and the bike got COVERED. Couple people came in to tell me but by the time I got out to the lot, it was long over. Bike was COVERED in blown-in sand and rain. Not to mention the cracked turn signal and bent clutch lever. For sun - definitely, for rain - sure (if it's not windier 'n snot. If it's stormy, you better park in shelter. | ||

Hmmmm....Looks like I have some more searching to do. The type of cover I was looking for has a sort of soft liner and some strong straps that go underneath. I use to have one for a snowmobile I had.
