Newbie here (About 2 months and 2500 miles). Does anyone know of a list of common problems with these bikes? Stuff we can fix ourselves maybe before it breaks and leaves us stranded in the middle of BFE. If not, it would be handy to get one together all in one place and tell us how you all went about fixing it. Just trying to draw on the experience here at BadWeB.

I'll start with the one I just got done reading about:

Wire chafing in the fuel pump. Bad news. Fix is to pull the pump, round off the sharp edges of the bracketry that the wires sit in and wrap the wires in something other than electrical tape (fuel eats the adhesive). Prior posts are here:

Thanks in advance for all of the participation in this and hopefully some of us that are new to the wonderful world of Buell can learn something.

P.S. Please no crappy dealer experiences here. We all know how bad the dealer network is with Buell after going in to buy one and some moron salesman tries to sell you a Sportster instead 'cause it is a "much better bike".

Get the new metal clip holder for the clutch cable before the wire form one breaks and your clutch cable melts into your exhaust header. It is a warranty item.

Only other problems I can think of that may occur is a chaffed wire along the steering neck or a chaffed wire directly under the fuse box. Both of these areas have the wires either bent really good or rubbing against a sharp(ish) surface.

Oh! one other common problem that I'm aware of is the perma grin.
It's sometimes hard to be taken seriously by others when you have this big ol' stupid grin spread across your face : D

Cylinder Head temperature wire going into after cylinder from the top down, will rub on valve cover. While the airbox is off, inspect condition of O2 sensor,...also a known chaffer.

Heheh... you been there too? The worst part of that place is near Shit Creek. I was up there once... without a paddle.
