My brother-in-law had bought a GSXR1100 brand new some years back, and rode it around without collision. It ran great for two weeks until he totalled it. Made the monthly payments for the next 4 years. I don't know about you, but I get some drool when I look at the Tuono. |

OK, another update... I found a quote for 1700 a year. It may go a little lower if I add the truck to that. If they can get it to about 1500 I may be able to do it. That would only take $60 a month out of my budgeted $300 in fun money. I suppose I could actually go to a grocery store and buy food instead of eating out 2X a day and that would make it easy but I like to have as much buffer as I can. I budgeted $40 a month for beer (I'll only buy Bass Ale) and I don't think I've ever spent more than $25... |

Keep looking for Insurance Quotes. When I called to insure my M2, my broker (multiple companies) went to my car ins. co. first. Actual quote "Buell, Buell, lets see... NO F@$#ING WAY!!... lets try someone else... here ya go... " I'm old & in N.Y. so I won't tease you, but shop around & try the internet. There should be a bookie out there that can help. |

A bookie... LOL . I found a list of sleds that CAN'T be insured as well... I would guess only if you were bonded. Hayabusa FZR1000 and a few others, basically anything over 150HP in the sportbike class. |

I give up. Once the agents I had on the case actually figured out what the hell they were dealing with the price went back up to $2800 a year. I hope I never see a "rubi"/"Squid" on an XB. I'll end up in jail. I work 40 frickin hours a week to make a living and because some rich mofo decides to buy his kid a toy they are too irresponsible to have I can't buy the toy I want even though I work for it and am responsible. WTF/FTW! I oughta steal one and move to Mexico but that would just make the problem worse for everyone else. GRRR! |

M1combat: you quitter! dont give up yet, I shopped well over 15 companies to get my best quote on my XB9R... $2500.00, Sure it sucks to pay that much, I live on my own and no one helped me with anything so it was tuff but Ive put 11410 miles on my bike in 5 months and dont regret anything . If you really want something nothing will stop you. also try this find some family or friends in another zip code and give the insurance companies a different address. Be cool with them, they want to make a sale so ask them for honest advise and you'll see most will be straight foward. |

Try telling them it's an XB9S and see what the difference is. I was astonished at some of the differing quotes from 9R to 9S. I'm tempted to go back and tell them they have it wrong and I've got a 9S. The goddamned bike is the SAME, you MORONS! Ergos and a fricking letter are the only differences in the two bikes, and some idiot behind a desk decides that the R should cost three times as much to insure. |

It's always been that way, certain features or colors always added to insurance premiums, hence the street sleeper concept in some cases. Ever see a perfectly stock looking old Dodge Dart with skinny tires that could run an 11 second quarter mile? I did, and I have a very clear memory of it's tail lights. When it comes to insurance, logic and reason are generally lost, perception is everything it seems at times.

Yeah, I hear you, I have a 72 Mach that runs 145MPH at 5000 RPM's and the engine is good for 8000 . It's more of a road racer than a drag car though.

145?? Ummm, sure it will. I had a 71 mach1 with the 351 cleveland & while it was fast as hell from stoplight to stoplight. With the gearing they have 145 is merely a pipe dream. PS..if someone actually offered you $18,000 for a 72 mach 1 you should have snagged it asap. The cars are a dime a dozen. Nice cars, but nothing special. |

Good news.. H-D Insurance cleared up the problem and everything is back to the goods. Now, I'm not sure if you guys having problems finding insurance have tried Harley (don't berate them cause of the name)? Face it, if you have a BRAG card, you should be able to get them to help.. So I'd call 'em and see what they say.. They broker for a bunch of companies and will help you find the best deal. Later, |

Uhh, Dynarider... What sort of tranny did you have??? Not that I give a flying #$%^ but you didn't ask me so how in the hell would you know what sort of gearing I run??? Was your engine a 2V or 4V??? Most people thought the 4V was better but they both ROCK, it just depends on what you are trying to do. As I said, it's more of a road racer than a drag car. I don't run frickin 4.11 gears. Oh, and BTW... 71 and 73 mach's are a dime a dozen. 72's are rare and white 72's the rarest as I recall. Oh, and BTW, where do you get off telling me my car is a dime a dozen when you haven't even seen it? There are about 20 parts on it that aren't stock (17 being brake pads, tyres, dampers and cam) and the interior is quite nice. The roof has NOT been replaced and doesn't sag at all. everything on the dash is in place and working, NO cracks at all. The carpet is NOS. The freakin windows are original. The body is straight except for a little damage to the drivers fender that occured about 8 months ago (I parked it afterwords because I'm in NO hurry to put miles on it and even less of a hurry to total it). Just FYI, I was doing 105 in 2nd gear when I spun the rear main bearing. You're just pissed because you're probably a die hard Corvette/Mopar/what the hell ever fan and FORD is the winingest manufacturer in the history of motorsports... Did you know that you can buy a Mustang for 1/2-1/3 the price of a good Vette and then put the remaining money back into the Mustang and have a car that will eat just about ANYTHING on 4 wheels alive (Keep in mind I don't care much for oval or drag racing, it has to turn). Also, check out darkhorse racing if you think an old Mach can't keep up with modern cars on a road course . FU - I know what my car does. |

Whoa, calm down there, buddy. Take Dyna with a grain of salt, he's just a crotchety old man. And for what it's worth, I fucking HATE Mustangs. LOL...worked on the new 2005s for a year. What a worthless pile of junk. Of course, it will still sell like hotcakes because people are morons. The only 'stangs worth anything are at least 25 years old. Bryan |

Bit touchy on the pile of crap old mustang subject aint ya? The only way a 72 mach 1 will hit 145 mph is if you push it out of a cargo plane at 30,000'. And nope im not loyal to any car manufacturer. I did the car bit years & years ago. Raced at the strip, etc. Then I finally realized it was all a waste of $$$. Now I just want a vehicle to get back & forth to work. I dont need a 500hp car to go grocery shopping or take my grandson to the mall. Saying a mustang will do 145 is not impressive to anyone so why bother? You wanna impress me, go get a bike without a co-signer. |

Agreed on all counts Darth . Every Mustang ever made (OK, all American cars) has had a botched abortion of a suspension system. I do have to say though that Ford at least designs them in a "proper" fashion. What I mean by that is that the FVIC is on the correct side of the tire, the roll center doesn't migrate out to 15' to the outside of a corner, the roll couple height is "OK" and suspension jacking isn't an issue. That's because Ford has engineers that will spend the time to please the lawyers who require understeer on the limit AND make a car that is predictable on the edge. The only Chevy that has a better front suspension is the corvette (And it'a a lot better) but it still understeers on the edge, it's just that the edge is farther away from the center so to speak. The mustang is inferior in stock trim to the Vette, but look at the price difference. Afterwords go look at Griggs racing and find a 650HP engine you like and then laugh at all the vettes that can't hold a candle on any form of track. Oh, and you've still spent a lot less than a stock vette costs. Anyway, sorry for the rant and sorry if I offended you Dyna, but I do speak the truth and yes, Ford IS the most winning manufacturer. More wins than Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, BMW, Mercedes, Lotus, Jaguar, Detomaso, Venturi, Honda, Toyota (Toyota will pass them though), Chevy, Dodge, Oldsmobile (Even Chevy, Dodge, Olds combined ) etc... |

I wasn't trying to impress anyone, just empathize with the previous post... FWIW, I haven't had that car past 90 in 4 years. Oh, and I'll probably be paying cash for the bike pretty soon. Where there's a will there's a way. Thanks for getting me riled though, I was a bit tired . |

No fe fi fo stuff, but I had a late drama filled night last night. I swear, some people. Not you (well maybe a little), but I hate drama queens/kings or whatever you want to call them. It's even worse when they are recovered/recovering addicts... Anyway, Still working on the cash but I think it'll happen . I've never bought anything like this with cash... isn't there usually a cash discount? |
