Went out for a ride with a buddy tonight and seen someone I knew so I blew my horn and the fuse for the horn blew.Which also control's the brake light and the interactive exhaust.Not only did that fuse blow but the key switch fuse blew to.These are both 15amp fuse's.What give's anyone had this problem with there XB12.I replaced both and rode it again now it seem's fine.  | ||

Sounds like a possible short somewhere in the horn circuit. Check the switch on the bar, and wiring between the switch & fuse block. Look for any loose connections, or areas of exposed copper strands without sheath. Since there were two seperate circuits involved, I'd check the back of the fuse block to make sure there are no wires or terminals contacting one another there as well. | ||

I'm sure Dyna would say that you were abusing the horn button and that's why it broke: operator error.  | ||

Knowing Dana thats an impossibility. He doesnt ride his bikes enough to abuse them  But thats gonna change with this new one..right Dana?? PS...the rider abuse line is more likely to come from a stealership. I say ride em hard & put em away wet. If the damn bike breaks then obviously it just isnt very good to begin with. | ||

Dana, you gonna' take that? (heh heh heh) What's with me this morning? I'm just a trouble maker. Gettin' my cuppa' joe on!  Seriously, good luck with that fuse... these bikes are pretty damn easy to open up and check the electricals, for the most part. | ||

Dmuz....Dana knows its true, he spent more time polishing his rims the last 6 months than he did riding. Thats one of the reasons he finally got rid of it & picked himself up a bike he can actually ride. | ||

No it's not totally true Dyna.After polishing came work then come's a 8 yr old girl a 11 yr old boy running around for them keeping my wife happy(very important) and running a business almost 7 day's a week for the last nine years.Dyna priority's my friend,I shouldn't have to explain to you. | ||

I’ve had similar episodes with blowing fuses on my XB9R. First time it was the ignition fuse. Latterly, its been the accessory fuse which powers the tach/.instruments. Tried many times to locate the source of the fault, but it just comes and goes without rhyme or reason. Mark | ||

I had a fuse on my M2 that was doing the same thing. It even smoked the turn signal relay. Turned out to be a shorted turn signal bulb. Maybe try a new brake light bulb and save yourself the wasted time and effort that I went through. | ||

I just got back from a hour ride or so of blowing the horn and whatever I could do to blow the fuse and nothing.Something isn't right somewhere though.Gonna put a meter on it when I get some more time. | ||

Prioritys?? Come on man, its summer in wisconsin & we only get about 3 warm months. Ship the kids off to summer camp, have the wife mow the yard & go put some miles on the bike PS..screw the horn, I never use it. I just rap the pipes & it works just as well. Plus usually I end up hitting the damn turn signal button instead of the horn  Harley puts the button in the wrong place. | ||

Remove the flysreen and check the bolt that holds the horn in place. I had the same problem and found the wire to the horn had shorted on this bolt. Remember your tailight works off the same circut. | ||

Thanks Gootch! Billy at Uke's HD told me they had this problem with there demo.Yes it's the bolt that hold's the horn on.The wire run's in back of it and rub's on the bolt until it rub's the insulation off the wire.So what I did was put some electrical tape on the wire for repair and then cut a small piece of rubber hose and slid it on the end of the bolt with a small zip tie so it wouldn't fall off.Now the wire won't have anything to rub on any longer.  | ||

Uh, just which finger are you pointing with? Anyway, reports like this pointing out wear points are hopefully ones the factory reads and adjusts assembly processes and procedures with. | ||

They are already know and have corrected the problem.This just happens to be on the first run of bike's,I hope this isn't the begining.I no it's not though. | ||

I have to go with Englishman on the puzzlement scale. Never blew a horn or accessory fuse, but one night as I pulled out of my garage, the ignition fuse blew for no apparent reason. I'm guessing it's some kind of surge or cheap fuse. But what makes a fuse cheap? No problems since. I think I'll just buy extra fuses and put'em under the seat just in case. | ||
