I need a front brake lever and no local dealers carry them, nor does anyone in the surrounding area. I do recall another bike having a lever that was interchangeable but was not able to find the info in the knowledge vault.

Any info would be great as I need on asap.

The brake system is made by Nissin, who supply most of the Japanese makers.

I believe that the lever off a Yamaha R-1 might work, but not positive.

The thing to be careful of is that Nissin makes many different models that are very similar.

The problem is that a brake lever may seem to fit, but it can actually be putting some pressure on the master cylinder, which can cause the disc to rub slightly on the brake pads, until the rotor overheats and seizes.

Not good.

So......

Take you lever to the Yamaha dealer, and make sure it is exactly the same as the Buell one. If not, you can modify it to fit, if you are real handy.

If not, call one of our sponsors that does mail order like Appleton, and order one from them. If they don't have one, they can find out who does on the HD Net, and the other dealer can send it to you.

No reason not to have a part like this in two or three days if necessary.

Be careful.

Thanks Guys,

I need one today, I usually order my parts anyways as I do not want to support dealers who do not support Buells.

SJH:

Do you know Josh that lives over in Troy? Or maybe some of the SLAB riders could help. I have the OEM's off my 12r but, I'm in Nashville, TN.

Ferris, it is R1. (Sorry Glitch)

I just can't recall what year. When you order Pazzo or CRG levers, it says the years on the package. You may be able to get a hold of Andy and he could tell you.

But I do recall it being R1, if I'm wrong, I will again apologize to Mr. Glitch.

Rich

BTW Ferris, did you ever get Eric to sign your bike after the stunt show?

Yes he did but alas my bike is more of a tool/toy than a show piece. So the signature is wearing off the airbox cover.
I'll just have to ask him sign the frame next time. I'm sure I'll meet him again.

Who is this Andy you speak of?

Ferris, it is R1. (Sorry Glitch)
No apology necessary.
Those may fit the R1 of the same year, stranger things happen.
But I do recall it being R1, if I'm wrong, I will again apologize to Mr. Glitch.
Mr?
Sorry it took so long, it was quite some time ago, I had to get 'em. They were the cheap-o EMCO levers. $10 a piece I think, but that was years ago.

Front brake lever on the XB is the same as the 1999-2003 Yamaha R1.

DO NOT get the 2004 lever as it will not fit.
