Zpyro, they arent used with the Buell pucks, installed directly to frame like the full-length CFs.

The Buell OEM frame pucks when they first came out suffered from a poor quality adhesion issue similar to what you describe.

Any idea when they were fixed? I've had mine for at least three years.

typeone, wouldn't then the solid piece of kevlar or CF not protect the frame from being dented or otherwise damaged, like a softer rubbery piece such as the pucks? I'd be more worried about actual damage, rather than just scratches (which, it seems to me, would be the only thing a solid cover would do)..

Zpyro, its a good question, and one that seems to have details surfacing about in this thread. I don't know the answer, but I'm as interested as you are to hear some more info.

I want protection, but have no interest in the Buell rubber pucks.

Matt? Anyone? who's crashed the full CFs? how'd the frame do? Dents?

Thats exactly what I was thinking Zpyro. The stock Buell Pucks are thick, and have a styrofoam center to absorb the impact rather than the frame taking it all. Those carbon ones wont have much give, and will most likely only protect against scratches, not the initial impact.

I tested my Buell "puck" frame sliders by sliding my XBss on the highway going 70mph The "puck" saved my bike from being totaled. As a side note the "puck" I tested was questionable too...the upper rear corner never stuck on completely. I have since put on a new and I have almost the same problem as before, with the adhesive coming off of the "puck" itself and not completely adhering in the upper rear corner

skinstains, upload it to imageshack.us, and click the "resize image" box. 640x480 should be plenty big. when its done uploading, scroll to the bottom, highlight the url next to where it says "Direct link to image." right click the highlighted url, and click on copy. then type in

\imagelink{paste image URL here}

replace "paste image url here" with the url you copied before by selecting it, deleting it, then right click in the space between the brackets { } and click paste. that should work

Ooops, I believe the / should be a \ for the imagelink tag to work in the preceding post.

Thanks Sparky! Me fix. : )

Skinstains,
Or just post the URL and folks can click on it to pull the image up in a new window, no matter how large it is. : )

If you want to upload images, they need to be under 800 pixels wide and 70KB in file size. You can easily compress most images to meet that requirement. See the info atop the "Cool Buell Pics" topic page for more info. : )
