Hi all, great message board you have here. I'm new to bikes and looking to get onto a used Lightning or Firebolt for my first one. I've always loved the Buell's from the first time I've laid eyes on one. I live about 40miles North of the Burgh' and look forward to hanging around here and dreaming a little.

If you can touch your toes, get a Firebolt.

If not, a Lightning is 4 u...

Welcome

If you are new to motorcycles all together the Lightning xb9s may be a better choice. Standard style riding position is easier to learn to counter-steer with. My 2 cents

Well that is one thing I wanted to ask opinions of. I'm just under 6' and weigh in at 240#. Which bike would be best for me? I personally like the Lightning best. I've sat on both bikes (and the 1125R...) and the Lightning felt better to me. I liked the more upright riding position. This will be my first street bike but i've ridden offroad for 20yrs. I've also ridden my uncles FLSTF and my buddies CBR600 and finally need to get one of my own soon.

6'+ riding offroad for 20 years + upright riding position = Uly

It looks just like an overgrown lightning.

Just my 2 cents though. Try em all out and go from there.

Uly or CityX depending on which motor you want. Or I guess any S with the CityX seat; I'm only 5'9" and all the rest seem cramped to me.

Just ride them all, Buell's good about that.

Thanks for the repies so far guys...I'm leaning toward a CityX. The Uly really dosen't appeal to me that much, its' a nice bike and all but I want a more defined street bike. The CityX is more my speed.

Silverarrow,

PLEASE don't overlook the STT. It is between the S and Uly in size and has enhanced suspension geometry and components.

It's the bike I would have bought had it been around when I rode the Uly.

It's slightly taller than the SS (Lightning Long) yet is a little more nimble than the Uly.

If you don't need the passenger accommodations and luggage, my vote is for the STT.

Think of the STT as the CityX for people who are 6' and 240lbs.

+2 on the TT... so long as you have no passenger requirements. If there are passenger requirements I'd opt for a CityX. Just me .2 cents

With the passenger kit, there won't be any difference between the STT and CityX, if you need that sort of thing.

I'm actually considering trading the Uly for an STT.
